Why this role matters
The global demand for food is growing rapidly, while requirements for food safety, efficiency, and sustainability are stricter than ever. In industrial food processing, legacy software and manual updates are making way for smart, data-driven, and cloud-ready platforms. To keep up with these standards, factories need continuous, secure, and automated software updates on the fly—without halting production lines.
How we contribute
At Meyn, we build advanced equipment and intelligent software for poultry processing plants across the globe. Through our Synergy Edge initiative, we are developing a modern, modular software platform that connects factory sensors, high-speed cameras, and PLCs directly to cloud environments and smart controls. This ensures production plants run 24/7 at peak performance, make precise automated decisions based on real-time data, and stay fully protected with cutting-edge cybersecurity.
Your contribution as System Architect
As System Architect, you set the technical direction for our software portfolio. You turn complex functional requirements into a scalable, secure, and future-proof system architecture. You are the link between Product Management, IT, and our agile Development teams, making sure everyone works toward the same technical blueprint.
What you will be doing:
- Designing system architecture: You create and maintain the overall architectural blueprint for both OT and IT software applications, ensuring it can easily scale with our product roadmap.
- Connecting factory technology: You design solutions that seamlessly integrate real-time sensor, camera, and PLC data with ERP platforms, operational dashboards, and cloud environments.
- Embedding quality and security: You identify system-level risks and edge cases early, guide the reuse of existing software modules, and integrate modern security standards and CI/CD workflows.
- Bridging technical and business teams: You translate complex architecture concepts into clear guidelines for developers, product managers, and non-technical stakeholders alike.
- Driving agile collaboration: You actively participate in architecture reviews, refinements, and sprint retrospectives to ensure quality is built in from day one.
Moving forward together
We are modernizing our entire software landscape. You step in at a moment where you can actively shape our technical future using tools and environments like Kubernetes, Docker, GitLab CI/CD, virtual simulation environments (Hardware/Software-in-the-Loop), and agentic AI. You get the freedom to take full technical ownership, stay ahead of technological trends, and grow your career within an international engineering environment.
Moving forward together
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- You bring at least 5 years of experience as a System Architect within an Industry 4.0 or IoT environment.
- You have hands-on experience with modern system architectural tools and methodologies.
- You are comfortable working in cloud-native setups using Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- You have a solid grasp of modern cybersecurity standards and requirements.
- You speak and write fluent English and easily communicate with both technical teams and business partners.
- You are proactive, quality-oriented, and thrive in an open, collaborative team environment.
What you get in return
- Salary: Between €4,000 and €7,026, depending on education and work experience
- Holidays: 33 days in total, consisting of 25 holidays and 8 ADV days
- Travel allowance: €0.25 per kilometer
- Competitive terms: under the Dutch Metal & Technology sector agreement (Metaal & Techniek)
- Attractive pension scheme
- Autonomy & Flexible Hours: Shape your own workday with flexible start times and direct control over your agenda. Includes a standard 1 day/week working-from-home setup.
- Growth: The chance to work with forward-thinking innovations like AI-assisted coding, post-quantum cryptography, and high-availability Kubernetes deployments.
- Our Culture: A no-nonsense, international environment where engineering meets tangible results.
