The Area Sales Manager oversees the company retail activities under supervision of the Sales Operations Manager. He is responsible for store operation, merchandising, visual merchandising, people management, marketing and CRM.
- Store Merchandising and Visits (50%)
- Merchandise Distribution:
- Understand the stores and customer product needs and plan accordingly the product re-distribution ensuring it is carried out properly (including stores SKUs and Quantity capacity).
- Ensures availability of the right merchandise at each and every POS: new product distribution and re-distribution, merchandise alignment, order placing within the purchasing budget set by the Sales Operations Manager
- Product Evaluation:
- Identify slow moving products by store in comparison with other stores
- Propose ways to push these slow-moving products and enforce it by store
- Propose to SOM discounts and promotions on merchandise
- Review statistical report (monthly and quarterly) on POS sales with the Sales Operations Manager
- Product Knowledge:
- Be up to date on technical & lifestyle products specs and inform SOM
- Be up-to-date on sports & lifestyle product update
- Retail Catalogue: work with SOM on the Retail/POS Catalogue
- Store Visits:
- Conduct store visits on a daily basis and weekly bases, conducting spot checks and ensuring store are operating as per the set retail standardized operation manual (e.g.: gift cards, petty cash, any items etc.)
- Ensure store Hygiene & Tidiness: Ensure that stores are properly maintained and prepared.
- Oversee non-stock purchase and levels

Maintenance: Report to Sales Operations Manager on any equipment failures and make sure all equipment in the store is functioning and cleaned thoroughly.

Visual Merchandising & Marketing (20%)
- Communicate visual merchandising needs for future and current in-store marketing campaigns for the store
- Ensure Window display the same across the store and aligned as per brand requirements
- Ensure the proper display of products within stores
- Improve customer satisfaction by ensuring the clientele is serviced completed with excellence & according to standards

Staff Management (30%)
- Maintain constant follow up with Store Managers by conducting periodic meetings to communicate with them on: new and/or current standards and rules, set strategies (target, objectives, marketing, distribution channels, store issues, etc.), periodic performance review of the store staff
- Attendance: Oversee the employees schedule and coordinate with the store managers on setting their schedule according to the retail operation requirements & as per the rules and regulations
- Oversee and inform the SOM on retail operational recruitment needs and interview the candidates as to the operations manual and Recruitment process set by the HRM
- Training & Performance Review:
- Oversee induction plan and training in coordination with HRM & SOM for all new hires (brands, products, sales, procedures, etc.) according to the SOPs.
- Organize in coordination with SOM & HRM activities for staff development and engagement: team building exercises, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Ensure that the staff have proper product technical and specification knowledge including on new product releases.
- Assess the training needs plan as set in coordination with HRM & Sales Operations Management, ensuring proper development is applied through training, coaching & evaluating their performance in accordance with KPI sets, retail and company requirements.
- Assist SOM in conducting quarter performance review as per the company evaluation system in order to create a constantly improving and performing environment.
- Channel all new hires and dismissals through the Human Resources Manager and Sales Operations Manager
- Personnel Manuals:
- Ensure staff is behaving according to the rules and regulations as per the Employee Handbook and Store SOPS.
- Recommend Staff of the Month/Quarter/Year to the Sales Operations Management and HR.

Follow up on Disciplinary Reviews and recommend actions to the SOM and HRM.

- Update regularly the SOM on: financial targets (stores target), strategy goals for distribution channels, product focus & brands, quality & service standards, customer satisfaction, brand image
- Weekly meetings with the SOM must be scheduled and completed
