Primary Purpose of the Organization:The Division of Facilities Management functions to design, construct, maintain and operate the University’s physical facilities. The number one objective of the department is to provide and maintain facilities that will enhance and support the mission and academic goals of the University. Primary Purpose of the Position:Student Facility Planning AssistantThe Student Facility Planning Assistant will support the Facility Planner with campus space management, relocations, signage and wayfinding, and facility data management. The position will include a combination of fieldwork across campus and related data and administrative support. Assigned duties not to exceed 20 hours per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- * Space Assessments & Data: Assist with campus space assessments, field verifications, and space inventories, including documenting occupancy, space use, furniture, equipment, measurements, photographs, and other facility information. The student will also assist with data entry and maintaining accurate space and facility records.
- Relocations & Moving Services: Support relocation planning and coordination, including space and move assessments, inventories, vendor site walks, move preparation, monitoring moving activities, documenting progress and field conditions, and assisting with pre- and post-move verification.
- Signage & Wayfinding: Assist with signage and wayfinding activities, including field assessments, inventories, photographs, measurements, location and condition verification, installation verification, and related documentation.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- * Be enrolled full- or part-time in a degree-seeking undergraduate program with Fayetteville State University.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Interest in facility planning and coordination.
- Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented.
Knowledge skills and abilities:Preferred Qualifications:
- * Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to accurately collect and document information.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of business partners. The student should be comfortable working across campus and interacting professionally with university personnel, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to utilize spreadsheets, databases, electronic records, and other technology.
- An interest in facilities, planning, project management, data management, business, or a related area would be helpful but is not required.
- The position may also require appropriate access to campus facilities, planning files, and designated facility or space-management systems based on the assigned responsibilities.
