Company Description
TOFA Limited is an electrical and energy engineering firm delivering professional and cost-effective power generation, transmission, and distribution solutions to public, private, commercial, and industrial clients.
The company provides end-to-end solutions covering the planning, design, supply, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of power generation and electrical infrastructure. TOFA specializes in a wide range of power generation technologies, including gas and diesel generator systems, combined heat and power (CHP) systems, and associated mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
With over 30 years of experience in the installation and operation of power plants and distribution systems of various sizes, TOFA's roots trace back to its parent company in Lebanon, established in 1986. The parent company has consistently generated and distributed over 40 MW of power to approximately 4,000 commercial, residential, and industrial accounts.
Combining extensive hands-on experience, engineering expertise, and a strong understanding of clients' energy requirements, TOFA provides reliable and efficient energy solutions tailored to the operational needs of its clients.
Role Description
TOFA Limited is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its engineering team on a full-time, fully remote basis.
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the engineering, design, technical evaluation, and project support of mechanical systems associated with power generation projects. The role will focus primarily on gas generators, diesel generators, combined heat and power (CHP) systems, and the mechanical balance of plant (BOP) associated with power generation facilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and reviewing mechanical designs for gas and diesel generator power plants and CHP systems.
- Designing and specifying mechanical balance-of-plant systems, including cooling systems, ventilation, exhaust systems, fuel systems, lubrication systems, compressed air systems, pumps, piping, and associated equipment.
- Preparing and reviewing mechanical calculations, equipment sizing, technical specifications, datasheets, and equipment schedules.
- Developing and reviewing 2D and 3D mechanical layouts, piping arrangements, equipment layouts, and technical drawings.
- Performing thermal, hydraulic, fluid-flow, and other engineering calculations related to power-generation systems.
- Reviewing generator and CHP manufacturer documentation, technical submittals, drawings, and performance data.
- Supporting the selection and technical evaluation of mechanical equipment, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Coordinating mechanical requirements with electrical, civil, structural, and other engineering disciplines.
- Preparing technical documentation, method statements, scopes of work, and engineering reports.
- Participating in project planning, engineering coordination, procurement support, and technical discussions with clients and suppliers.
- Supporting site inspections, installation supervision, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance verification when required.
- Investigating mechanical issues and developing practical solutions to improve system reliability, efficiency, and maintainability.
- Conducting technical research and evaluating new technologies applicable to distributed generation, CHP, and energy systems.
- Ensuring mechanical designs comply with applicable international codes, standards, safety requirements, and manufacturer recommendations.
- Contributing to project cost estimates, equipment selection, and value-engineering exercises.
- Providing technical support during operation and maintenance activities and assisting in the optimization of existing power-generation assets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in power generation, energy, utilities, industrial facilities, or a related sector.
- Demonstrated experience with gas generators, diesel generators, CHP systems, or other power-generation equipment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems associated with power generation and mechanical balance of plant.
- Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, hydraulics, piping, pumps, HVAC/ventilation, cooling systems, fuel systems, and exhaust systems.
- Experience with mechanical equipment selection, sizing, technical specifications, and vendor evaluation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or other engineering design and CAD software. Experience with 3D modelling software such as SolidWorks is an advantage.
- Ability to perform and review engineering calculations and develop technical documentation.
- Experience reviewing manufacturer drawings, datasheets, technical proposals, and equipment documentation.
- Strong project coordination and technical communication skills.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
- Ability to work independently in a remote working environment, manage priorities, and meet project deadlines.
- Willingness to participate in site visits, inspections, testing, and commissioning activities when required.
Work Arrangement
Full-time | Remote
- The position is primarily remote, with occasional travel for site surveys, inspections, installation support, testing, commissioning, and project-related activities as required.
