About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer – BIM & Design to join our team in Dubai. The ideal candidate will possess a strong combination of structural engineering expertise and BIM proficiency, with the ability to carry projects from concept through detailed design and coordinated BIM delivery.
The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of reinforced concrete and structural steel design, be proficient in industry-standard structural analysis and BIM software, and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the structural design process.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for reinforced concrete and structural steel buildings.
- Develop safe, economical, and code-compliant structural solutions for residential, commercial and mixed-use projects.
- Prepare structural calculations, design reports, and engineering documentation.
- Develop and maintain intelligent structural BIM models using Autodesk Revit.
- Produce coordinated structural drawings, reinforcement detailing, schedules, and construction documentation.
- Coordinate structural models with architectural, MEP, and civil disciplines using BIM workflows.
- Perform clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination using Navisworks.
- Manage model interoperability between Revit, ETABS, and ProtaStructure while maintaining data integrity.
- Review structural models and drawings to ensure compliance with project standards and engineering intent.
- Participate in design coordination meetings and resolve technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable international codes and project requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 4 years of structural design experience, preferably on UAE or GCC projects. Experience with construction projects located in Africa is a plus.
- Strong understanding of reinforced concrete and structural steel design.
- Demonstrated experience designing complete structural systems, including:
- Foundations (isolated, strip, raft, and pile foundations)
- Columns
- Beams
- Suspended slabs
- Roof slabs
- Shear walls
- Staircases
- Retaining structures
- Strong understanding of structural load paths, stability, constructability, and detailing.
- Ability to mentor juniors and/or draughtsmen and contribute to continuous process improvement. (Mandatory).
Software Proficiency
Candidates must be proficient in the following software:
- ETABS
- SAFE
- Prokon
- Autodesk Revit (Structure) for BIM Modelling (Mandatory)
- Navisworks Manage
- ProtaStructure (Mandatory)
- Bluebeam Revu
Experience in model exchange and interoperability between Revit, ETABS, and ProtaStructure is highly desirable.
Design Codes
Applicants should have strong working knowledge of:
- ACI, ASCE
- British Standards
Knowledge of Eurocodes and BRU Technical Guidelines (Zanzibar) will be considered an advantage.
Preferred Skills
- Experience delivering BIM-enabled structural projects.
- Understanding of BIM Execution Plans (BEP) and ISO 19650.
- Strong technical review and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality.
