Key Accountabilities
- * Shape assigned components of the multi-year corporate strategy and refresh agenda, advising on strategic choices, priorities, objectives and enterprise-level trade-offs.
- Set the strategic questions, analytical approach and decision criteria for complex assignments; guide analysts, business teams and external advisors and assure the quality and coherence of their outputs.
- Advise and constructively challenge business units and subsidiaries on strategic alignment, planning assumptions, resource choices and capital allocation proposals.
- Interpret market, competitor, regulatory and scenario insights, synthesise their enterprise implications and counsel senior management on required strategic responses.
- Frame growth opportunities and strategic options for executive consideration and steer the development of decision materials for executive and Board strategy discussions.
- Advise on the strategic fit, value-creation potential and material risks of M&A, JV, partnership, investment and divestment opportunities and recommend priorities for further consideration.
- Set expectations for investment assessment and independently challenge business cases, feasibility studies, valuation assumptions, scenarios and recommendations prepared by deal teams, business units or advisors.
- Synthesize commercial, financial and strategic perspectives into a clear expert opinion for the Sr. Manager and relevant governance forums, highlighting key trade-offs, conditions and decision points.
- Guide due diligence and post-investment review agendas, coordinate specialist input where required, and advise on interventions to protect or enhance portfolio value.
- Advise on the design and evolution of the strategy execution and governance framework, ensuring clear ownership, decision rights, measures and escalation paths.
- Challenge the strategic logic, relevance and ambition of departmental and enterprise OKRs and KPIs, providing guidance to owners responsible for their definition and tracking.
- Interpret consolidated performance insights, identify material strategic implications and advise senior stakeholders on corrective action, reprioritisation or escalation.
- Provide an independent perspective for management, Board and shareholder strategy reviews, ensuring that decision materials clearly present progress, risks, trade-offs and required interventions.
- Act as a trusted subject-matter advisor to the GM – Corporate Strategy & Investment and senior stakeholders on complex strategic questions, priority matters and governance decisions.
- Lead complex cross-functional workstreams without formal authority by defining the mandate, aligning stakeholders, assigning analytical contributions, resolving intellectual issues and maintaining focus on the required decision and outcome.
- Coach analysts and peers through technical guidance, challenge and review; establish fit-for-purpose frameworks and quality standards rather than routinely producing detailed analysis or materials.
- Engage and direct external advisors where specialist capacity is required, ensuring their work is strategically relevant, integrated and decision-ready.
