Job DescriptionRole PurposeTo provide specialist MEP cost management support across Ellington’s development portfolio, with particular focus on cost planning, BOQ review, benchmarking and value engineering throughout the design and pre-contract stages.
Key Responsibilities
- * Review MEP cost plans, estimates and pricing through concept, schematic, detailed design and pre-tender stages.
- Review MEP BOQs against drawings and specifications to ensure complete scope coverage and identify omissions, discrepancies, duplication and potential cost exposure.
- Identify, evaluate and quantify value engineering opportunities across MEP systems, materials, specifications and construction methodologies.
- Monitor MEP design development against approved budgets and highlight cost movements, risks and variances at an early stage.
- Undertake rate analysis and benchmark MEP costs against current projects, historical data and prevailing UAE market rates.
- Coordinate with consultants, Development, Design and Procurement teams to resolve cost and scope-related queries.
- Ensure approved value engineering proposals and design changes are correctly reflected within cost plans and BOQs.
- Support tender analysis and commercial reviews where specialist MEP input is required.
- Contribute to the development of internal MEP cost benchmarks, standard specifications and cost optimisation initiatives across the wider portfolio.
Candidate Requirements
- * Degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, with approximately 10 years or more preferred.
- Strong background within a cost consultancy, developer or similarly structured commercial environment.
- Demonstrable experience in MEP estimating, cost planning, BOQ preparation and review, rate analysis and value engineering.
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and associated construction methodologies.
- Good knowledge of current UAE construction costs, supply chains and market rates.
- Strong analytical and numerical capability, with advanced Excel skills.
- Able to communicate clearly with consultants, project teams and senior management.
- UAE building project experience is strongly preferred.
