Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Sofa Maker role based in Doha, Qatar. The Sofa Maker will be responsible for measuring, cutting, and assembling sofa frames, selecting and fitting foam and padding, and upholstering sofas using various fabrics and materials. Daily tasks include following design specifications, using hand and power tools, performing finishing work such as stitching and trimming, and ensuring each piece meets quality standards. The role involves collaborating with designers and other workshop team members, maintaining a clean and safe workspace, and inspecting completed items for durability and appearance. The Sofa Maker may also assist with minor repairs, adjustments, and customization requests from clients.
Qualifications
* Candidates should possess strong sofa-making and general furniture production skills, including frame construction, padding, and upholstery techniques.
* Candidates should possess skills in using hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently, including saws, staplers, drills, and cutting equipment.
* Candidates should possess skills in fabric handling, cutting, stitching, and fitting, with an eye for alignment, symmetry, and neat finishing.
* Candidates should possess skills in reading measurements, interpreting basic drawings or design instructions, and maintaining consistent quality standards.
* Candidates should possess good physical stamina, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift and move materials and finished products as required.
* Previous experience in sofa making, upholstery, or furniture manufacturing is strongly preferred.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a workshop environment, follow safety procedures, and meet production timelines.
* Basic communication skills in English; additional language skills are an advantage.
* High school education or vocational training in carpentry, upholstery, or related fields is beneficial.
