The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior Radiographer to provide advanced diagnostic imaging services, support radiographic procedures, maintain high standards of patient care and radiation safety, and provide technical leadership to radiography teams.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical and technical expertise across relevant imaging modalities, ensure examinations are performed according to approved protocols, optimize image quality while minimizing radiation exposure, support complex examinations, and contribute to quality assurance, training, and service improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- * Perform and oversee diagnostic radiographic examinations in accordance with approved clinical protocols and professional standards.
- Assess imaging requests and verify patient identity, clinical indications, examination requirements, and relevant contraindications.
- Review patient histories and relevant clinical information before examinations.
- Select appropriate imaging techniques, protocols, positioning, exposure factors, and equipment settings.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images that meet established clinical and technical requirements.
- Optimize imaging parameters to achieve diagnostic quality while minimizing patient radiation exposure.
- Apply radiation-protection principles consistently for patients, staff, visitors, and other persons in controlled areas.
- Verify appropriate justification and authorization for examinations according to applicable clinical and regulatory requirements.
- Explain imaging procedures clearly to patients and obtain appropriate cooperation and consent where required.
- Assess patient condition, mobility, pain, communication needs, and special requirements before imaging.
- Provide appropriate assistance and positioning for elderly, pediatric, disabled, critically ill, or otherwise vulnerable patients.
- Apply safe patient-transfer, positioning, lifting, and handling techniques.
- Maintain patient dignity, privacy, confidentiality, and comfort throughout examinations.
- Perform routine and complex radiographic examinations across assigned clinical areas.
- Support specialized imaging procedures and advanced examinations within scope of practice and departmental protocols.
- Assist with mobile and bedside radiography where required.
- Support imaging of patients in emergency, intensive-care, operating-theatre, inpatient, and outpatient environments.
- Perform imaging procedures for trauma and urgent clinical cases according to established protocols.
- Coordinate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other clinical teams regarding examination requirements and patient condition.
- Escalate urgent, unexpected, or clinically significant observations through appropriate clinical channels.
- Ensure images are correctly labeled, indexed, transferred, and stored in accordance with departmental requirements.
- Review images for technical quality, positioning, exposure, artifacts, and completeness before releasing examinations.
- Repeat examinations only when clinically or technically justified and in accordance with radiation-safety principles.
- Monitor image-quality indicators and identify recurring technical issues.
- Maintain accurate examination records, patient information, imaging documentation, and quality records.
- Use PACS, RIS, electronic medical records, and other approved imaging systems accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure patient and imaging data are handled securely and confidentially.
- Operate radiographic equipment safely and in accordance with manufacturer and departmental procedures.
- Perform routine equipment checks and report malfunctions, defects, or performance concerns promptly.
- Coordinate with Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, and equipment vendors on technical issues and maintenance.
- Participate in equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration, quality-control testing, and performance verification where applicable.
- Conduct or support routine quality-control checks for imaging equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify factors affecting image quality, patient safety, or service availability.
- Follow departmental procedures for equipment downtime and contingency imaging arrangements.
- Maintain appropriate radiation-protection measures, including shielding, controlled areas, warning systems, and personal monitoring.
- Monitor personal dosimetry requirements and report unusual radiation exposure results through appropriate channels.
- Participate in radiation-safety audits, inspections, and improvement programs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable radiation-protection legislation, healthcare regulations, professional standards, and institutional policies.
- Report incidents, near misses, equipment-related events, patient injuries, and radiation-safety concerns promptly.
- Participate in investigations of imaging incidents, repeat examinations, patient identification errors, equipment failures, and other adverse events.
- Contribute to root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor compliance with infection-prevention and control requirements for imaging procedures and equipment.
- Ensure appropriate cleaning and disinfection of imaging equipment and patient-contact surfaces.
- Follow appropriate precautions for infectious, immunocompromised, or otherwise high-risk patients.
- Maintain readiness of imaging rooms, equipment, accessories, positioning aids, and emergency supplies.
- Monitor availability of consumables and coordinate replenishment with relevant support teams.
- Support efficient patient scheduling, examination flow, and departmental workload management.
- Prioritize urgent and time-sensitive examinations according to clinical requirements and departmental procedures.
- Monitor patient waiting times and identify opportunities to improve imaging workflow.
- Support service planning, staffing coordination, and workload allocation where required.
- Provide technical guidance and clinical support to junior radiographers, radiography assistants, and students.
- Mentor and supervise junior staff during complex or unfamiliar examinations.
- Participate in competency assessments, clinical education, and professional development programs.
- Deliver training on imaging techniques, patient positioning, radiation safety, equipment use, and departmental procedures.

Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate should have strong experience in diagnostic radiography, medical imaging, hospital radiology, clinical imaging services, or related healthcare environments, preferably within a hospital, diagnostic imaging center, specialist clinic, or large multidisciplinary healthcare organization.
The candidate should demonstrate:
- Proven experience performing diagnostic radiographic examinations across a range of clinical settings.
- Strong technical knowledge of radiographic imaging principles, positioning, exposure, image quality, and radiation protection.
- Experience handling complex, emergency, trauma, pediatric, elderly, and medically vulnerable patients.
- Strong understanding of patient identification, clinical history review, examination justification, and imaging protocols.
- Experience operating modern digital radiography and associated imaging systems.
