Hanooot is a Baghdad-based business services firm, founded in 2022, that specializes in development services: custom ERP, CRM, mobile apps, APIs and AI-powered systems built from scratch for Iraqi businesses. We also run our own software in production, including Ra8m, an Arabic-first retail platform, and Harrir, a fashion marketplace serving 18 cities.
The role
You'll be the lead designer, from MVP through a standalone app, with full ownership of the client experience.
What you'll design:
→ Regulated onboarding flows with e-KYC and a manual fallback
→ In-product education and progression gates
→ Waitlist and referral mechanics
→ The trading core: stock discovery, live prices, order entry, and concepts like price bands explained for beginners
→ Wallets and money movement
→ A design system with tokens and components that scales from a mini-app to a standalone app
What we're looking for:
- 6+ years in product design, including 2+ in fintech, trading, brokerage or wallets that shipped to real users
- End-to-end ownership of complex, regulated flows like KYC, payments or order execution
- Strong Arabic-first and RTL skills: data-dense layouts, numerals, currency formatting, bidirectional content
- Real-time, data-heavy interfaces and their edge cases: failed orders, market closed, partial fills, stale data
- The ability to explain a limit order in one screen without condescending
- Production-ready specs, states and interaction details, plus close work with engineers through build
- Research you run yourself, and the judgment to know what to test and what to ship
- An AI-native workflow: generating flow variations, prototyping in code, synthesizing research, localizing copy
Good to have: full-stack development experience
- Front-end skills in React, React Native or similar, so you can build working prototypes and production-quality UI components yourself
- Comfort turning design tokens into real code (CSS variables, Tailwind or theme files) and keeping the design system in sync with the codebase
- Understanding of APIs, data models and real-time data (WebSockets, polling, caching) to design around actual latency, loading and error states
- Basic back-end knowledge (Node.js, Python or similar, plus databases) to scope feasibility and speak engineers' language during build
- Experience with Git, code reviews and deploying prototypes, so design and engineering ship as one team
