About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Network & Security Engineer to join our Information Technology function and take ownership of the design, implementation, security, monitoring, and maintenance of the organization's network infrastructure.
The role will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security, and resilience of network infrastructure while supporting network security initiatives, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and delivering infrastructure improvement projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with IT Infrastructure, IT Operations, Service Desk, Applications, and external technology partners to ensure secure and reliable IT operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and related network infrastructure.
- Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, and other network devices.
- Monitor network performance, availability, capacity, and security, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
- Manage and troubleshoot core network services, including routing, switching, VLANs, IP addressing, DNS, and DHCP.
- Implement and maintain network security controls, including firewalls, VPNs, access controls, network segmentation, and secure configurations.
- Conduct network and infrastructure security assessments to identify vulnerabilities, evaluate risks, and recommend appropriate remediation measures.
- Apply network hardening standards, security best practices, patching, configuration management, and access-control measures across the infrastructure.
- Investigate and respond to network and security incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Plan and execute network upgrades, expansions, migrations, and security improvement projects with minimal business disruption.
- Implement and maintain network monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms to support proactive issue detection and security monitoring.
- Ensure appropriate backup, redundancy, high availability, and disaster recovery measures are in place for critical network and security infrastructure.
- Work with vendors, service providers, and technology partners on technical issues, implementations, maintenance, and support.
- Maintain network and security configurations, technical documentation, network diagrams, asset inventories, and standard operating procedures.
- Support IT audits, cybersecurity assessments, compliance requirements, and internal security reviews by providing technical evidence and documentation.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to junior network and IT team members.
- Stay updated on emerging networking and cybersecurity technologies and recommend improvements to enhance infrastructure performance, security, and resilience.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in network infrastructure and network security.
- Strong hands-on experience with LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, and DHCP.
- Hands-on experience with Fortinet, Cisco, or equivalent network and security technologies.
- CCNA certification is required.
- Firewall certification or equivalent relevant certification is preferred.
- Hands-on experience in network security, firewall administration, network segmentation, access control, and security hardening.
- Experience troubleshooting complex network and security incidents and conducting root-cause analysis.
- Experience with network monitoring, logging, alerting, and infrastructure performance management.
- Strong understanding of high availability, redundancy, backup, and disaster recovery concepts for network infrastructure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good technical documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and provide technical guidance to junior team members.
