Job Purpose:
We are looking for a Senior Fixed Assets & Insurance Accountant to manage and maintain accurate fixed asset and insurance accounting records. The role will support asset accounting, depreciation, insurance schedules, reconciliations, month-end and year-end closing, financial reporting, and audit requirements, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, transfers, and capital work-in-progress.
- Process and review monthly depreciation and ensure proper capitalization of assets.
- Reconcile fixed asset records with the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of asset tagging, useful lives, and asset components.
- Support periodic physical verification of fixed assets.
- Maintain insurance schedules, premium allocations, and related prepayments.
- Reconcile insured values with fixed asset records and identify potential coverage gaps.
- Record and monitor insurance claims and related recoveries.
- Prepare monthly and year-end fixed asset and insurance schedules and reconciliations.
- Provide supporting schedules and documentation for audit and management reporting.
- Support periodic financial reporting and accounting analysis.
- Coordinate with relevant internal teams, insurers, and brokers on fixed asset and insurance-related matters.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including experience in fixed assets and/or insurance accounting.
- Good knowledge of IAS 16 and fixed asset accounting principles.
- Strong understanding of depreciation, capitalization, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Good knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Good command of English, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with different teams and meet deadlines.
