Job Summary:
Dar Al-Handasah is seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Specification Writer with deep expertise in building systems, construction materials, and technologies.
This role requires an excellent communicator capable of leading high-level discussions with senior staff and clients, while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams across multiple global locations.
Qualifications & Key Responsibilities
- Standards & Formats: Thorough familiarity with British (NBS) and/or European Specification formats as well as ASTM standards.
- Codes: In-depth knowledge of regulations, including but not limited to UAE Fire & Life Safety, Dubai Municipality (DM), Dubai Civil Defence (DCD), Al Sa'fat, and Estidama.
- Quality Control: Ability to review and analyse construction drawings and design documents to develop and maintain office-wide quality control standards.
- Technical Knowledge: Exceptional understanding of architectural, interior design, and landscape specifications, materials, and construction methods.
- Sustainability: Significant experience with LEED-certified projects and regional sustainability standards. LEED-AP accreditation is highly preferred.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to supervise, support, and train technical design staff during contract document preparation.
- Multidisciplinary Coordination: Capability to assist other engineering disciplines in formatting and assembling complete project specification packages.
- Master Specifications: Experience in compiling, maintaining, and updating firm-wide master specifications.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor degree in Architecture, Architectural Science, Architectural Technology, or an equivalent credential from a recognized institution.
- Professional Membership: Registered member of a relevant professional body (e.g., CSI, BSI, RIBA).
- Experience: Minimum of 15+ years of specification writing experience, with at least 5 years of experience located within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) / UAE region.
