Accounting Automation Engineer
Spotter Labs is hiring an Accounting Automation Engineer to help automate manual processes across accounting, finance, and related business systems.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys understanding how work gets done, finding repetitive or inefficient steps, and building practical automation that makes processes more accurate, scalable, and easier to manage. The initial focus will be Accounting and Finance, with opportunities to support automation projects across other areas of the business as the company grows.
What You’ll Do
Review accounting and finance workflows and identify opportunities for automation.
Build repeatable processes across spreadsheets, reports, exports, and business systems.
Improve workflows related to reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, month-end close, and exception management.
Connect operational data with accounting and finance processes.
Build scripts, dashboards, templates, workflows, and other automation tools.
Work closely with accounting, finance, operations, and technology teams.
Design controls to make sure automation improves accuracy, not just speed.
Build exception-based workflows that reduce repetitive manual work.
Document processes clearly so they can be maintained and improved over time.
What We’re Looking For
Experience automating business processes using tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, SQL, Python, Power Query, VBA, Google Apps Script, Zapier, Make, Power Automate, APIs, or similar platforms.
Strong ability to work with spreadsheets, reports, data exports, and system-generated files.
Understanding of accounting or finance processes such as reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, AP, payroll, reporting, or financial analysis.
Ability to understand an existing process, identify bottlenecks or failure points, and design a better workflow.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work with non-technical teams and translate business problems into practical solutions.
Strong documentation habits.
Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where processes and systems are continuously evolving.
Nice to Have
Experience with ERP, banking, payroll, expense management, inventory, accounting, or reporting systems.
Experience building dashboards, reconciliation tools, exception reports, or workflow automations.
Experience matching and reconciling data across multiple systems.
Background in accounting, finance, data analytics, systems, engineering, operations, logistics, or transportation.
