Role Description The Quantity Surveyor is a full-time role based in Al-Basra Governorate, Iraq, with a hybrid work arrangement that allows some tasks to be performed from home. The role involves preparing and reviewing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), supporting cost planning during design and pre-construction phases, and monitoring cost control throughout project delivery. The Quantity Surveyor will track budgets, prepare cost reports, evaluate variations and claims, and support contract administration and tender evaluations. Daily activities include coordinating with project managers, engineers, and contractors, verifying measurements, updating cost data, and ensuring that project expenditures remain aligned with approved budgets and contractual obligations.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability in BOQ preparation, quantity take-off, and measurement for infrastructure and building projects.
- Strong cost planning and cost management skills, including budgeting, estimating, and value engineering.
- Experience in cost control and cost reporting, with the ability to monitor expenditures, forecast costs, and produce periodic reports.
- Knowledge of standard forms of contracts and procurement methods used in the construction industry.
- Proficiency with relevant software (e.g., Excel, cost management tools, and quantity surveying applications).
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Attention to detail, strong numerical and analytical skills, and the ability to work to deadlines in a project-based environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Previous experience in the Middle East or similar markets is an advantage.
