Job Summary
The Publishing Editor is responsible for coordinating the end-to-end publishing process, from content development and manuscript submission through editing, design, production, printing, distribution, and promotion. The role serves as a key coordination point between authors, clients, internal creative and marketing teams, printers, suppliers, retailers, and distribution partners to ensure publications are delivered to the required quality, timeline, and budget. The role also supports the day-to-day operations and continued growth of the publishing house, including business development support, marketing and promotion, distribution partnerships, and the implementation of efficient publishing workflows and processes.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Coordinate book projects from initial concept and manuscript submission through editing, design, production, printing, distribution, and final publication.
- Manage communication and follow-up with authors, clients, editors, designers, printers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate editing, design, proofing, printing, production, and quality control activities.
- Develop and track project timelines, deliverables, approvals, budgets, and deadlines.
- Source and coordinate with printers and suppliers, including quotations, specifications, production, and delivery.
- Support marketing, PR, social media, book launches, events, and promotional activities.
- Maintain publishing, production, supplier, and project records and documentation.
- Support new publishing enquiries, proposals, quotations, and business development opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with bookstores, libraries, retailers, distributors, and e-commerce platforms.
- Coordinate book listings, pricing, stock, and distribution requirements across sales channels.
- Identify opportunities to expand book distribution and market reach.
- Support the day-to-day operations and continuous improvement of the publishing house.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelors degree holder in Business or Literature with a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in understanding of printing, production specifications, proofs, and supplier coordination.
- Experience working with clients, authors, designers, editors, printers, suppliers, or creative teams.
- Publishing or book production experience is preferred.
- Strong project management, organization, communication, and follow-up skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality control.
- Basic knowledge of marketing, PR, social media, and book promotion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
- Strong problem-solving, coordination, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic.
