Principal Traffic Engineer / Traffic Engineering Lead
We are looking for an experienced Principal Traffic Engineer / Traffic Engineering Lead to lead and grow our Traffic Engineering practice in Abu Dhabi. The role combines technical leadership, team management, client engagement, and business development.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and manage Traffic Impact Studies (TIS), Transportation Master Plans (TMP), Access & Circulation Studies, and other traffic engineering studies.
- Develop and review strategic transport models using CUBE Voyager / Abu Dhabi STEAM and PTV Visum.
- Carry out and oversee traffic operational analysis using SYNCHRO, SIDRA, HCS, and related software.
- Lead traffic forecasting, junction/corridor assessments, access planning, and development of traffic improvement measures.
- Manage projects through Abu Dhabi authority submission, review, and approval processes.
- Lead, mentor, and build a team of traffic engineers and transport modellers.
- Manage client relationships and represent the company in technical and commercial meetings.

Support business development, including identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, developing scopes and fees, and winning new work.

What Required Skills an Ideal Candidate Would Bring

Bachelor's Degree in Civil / Transportation Engineering or related discipline; Master's or PhD is desirable.
- 15–20 years of relevant experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning.
- Strong Abu Dhabi / UAE experience and good knowledge of local authority requirements and approval processes.
- Extensive hands-on experience in TIS, TMP, traffic operations, travel demand modelling, and traffic forecasting.
- Strong experience with CUBE Voyager / Abu Dhabi STEAM; ITC/DMT-approved STEAM modelling experience.
- Strong command of PTV Visum, SYNCHRO, SIDRA, and HCS; VISSIM experience is an advantage.
- Proven experience in leading and managing technical teams.
- Strong client management and business development experience, including proposals, tenders, and securing new work.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
