We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Principal Scientist to join our growing team and play a key role in shaping the scientific and technical direction of our organization.
As Principal Scientist, you will serve as a recognized subject matter expert in stable isotope analysis, mass spectrometry, assay development, and analytical sciences. You will contribute to method development activities, drive scientific innovation, and support the development of our diagnostic platform through advanced data analysis and experimental design.
In addition to laboratory and scientific leadership responsibilities, you will contribute across multiple functions within the company, including LIMS/ELN administration, quality management, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role reports directly to the CSO and collaborates closely with Management, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs.
Key ResponsibilitiesScientific Leadership & Development· Serve in Capillon's scientific team for stable isotope abundance analysis and mass spectrometry, leading daily forward movement.
· Lead the lab operations that include design, optimization, validation, and transfer of analytical methods and diagnostic assays.
· Drive RnD activities, screening studies, and technology evaluations.
· Discuss, design, execute, and evaluate advanced experimental studies and method optimizations
· Identify and implement innovative approaches that strengthen Capillon's technological and competitive position.
Mass Spectrometry & Data Analysis· Contribute to scientific interpretation and statistical evaluation of stable isotope data generated from EA-IRMS and ICP-MS platforms.
· Co-develop analytical workflows for data processing, visualization, trending, and quality monitoring.
· Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize IRMS and ICP-MS instrumentation to ensure reliable and high-quality performance.
· Support assay development through rigorous experimental design and data-driven decision making.
LIMS/ELN Subject Matter Expert
- * Serve as administrator and subject matter expert for Capillon's LIMS and Electronic Laboratory Notebook systems.
- Configure workflows, templates, calculations, and system functionality.
Quality Assurance & Regulatory Support· Contribute to the development and maintenance of Capillon's Quality Management System.
· Author and review technical documentation, protocols, reports, validation documents, and SOPs.
· Support compliance activities related to CE marking, ISO 15189, CLIA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
· Act as a scientific representative during audits, inspections, and external assessments.
Cross-Functional Leadership· Lead or contribute to strategic cross-functional projects and process improvement initiatives.
· Mentor scientists, laboratory personnel, students, and junior team members.
· Develop and deliver internal training programs within areas of expertise.
· Act as a scientific advisor and sounding board across the organization.
· Represent Capillon externally in scientific collaborations, conferences, customer interactions, and partner discussions.
QualificationsRequired· PhD in Geochemistry, Environmental Sciences, Forensic Science, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
· Demonstrated expertise in stable isotope abundance and isotope measurements.
· Hands-on experience with EA-IRMS, ICP-MS instrumentation, or both.
· Strong scientific track record evidenced through publications, presentations, or significant industrial achievements.
· Extensive experience in experimental design, statistical analysis, and scientific data interpretation.
· Proven ability to independently drive collaborative teams and scientific projects from concept to implementation.
· Excellent communication skills in English.
Preferred· Experience in assay development, clinical diagnostics, or laboratory-developed tests.
· Experience working within regulated environments such as ISO 15189, ISO 13485, IVDR, CLIA, or FDA-regulated settings.
· Knowledge of LIMS and ELN systems, including configuration and validation.
· Programming or data-analysis experience using R, Python or similar tools.
· Experience leading cross-functional projects and mentoring scientific teams.
· Excellent communication skills in Swedish.
