At AAR Component MRO Amsterdam, every part matters. As our new Operational Buyer, you make sure the aircraft components, materials and services our operation needs are available at the right time and under the right purchasing conditions.
You will combine hands-on purchasing with supplier contact, negotiation and problem-solving. It is a role for someone who enjoys working in a technical, international environment where quality, delivery performance and accuracy are essential.
About the role
As Operational Buyer, you are responsible for the operational procurement of aircraft components, materials and services. You help ensure their timely availability, secure effective purchasing conditions and contribute to the continuity of our operational processes. You will work within the Material Planning and Procurement team and report to the Director Supply Chain.
What will you do?
- Request and evaluate quotations, select suppliers and place purchase orders.
- Research repair, replacement and alternative purchasing options to support quotations and identify cost-effective solutions.
- Negotiate prices and purchasing conditions with qualified existing and potential suppliers, within your assigned authority.
- Collect and provide information about pricing, availability and lead times.
- Monitor supplier performance, including delivery reliability, quality and service, and agree on improvements where required.
- Resolve rejected or non-conforming deliveries by contacting suppliers and negotiating appropriate, cost-neutral solutions.
- Purchase components and services and prepare different types of orders, end-user statements and other relevant documentation.
- Approve orders and invoices within your assigned authorization level.
- Accurately record purchasing and supplier information and prepare supplier visit reports.
- Create internal work orders and request vendor questionnaires and annual price lists.
- Work in accordance with applicable legislation and company procedures relating to aviation quality, human factors, health, environmental requirements and safety.
What do you bring?
- Minimal MBO-level working and thinking ability.
- Several years of experience in an operational purchasing role.
- Experience with supplier relationships and procurement processes.
- Knowledge of operational purchasing, supplier management and ERP systems.
Experience in a technical or aviation-related environment is an advantage. Knowledge of aircraft components and aviation regulations is also considered a plus.
