Military Medical City Hospital (MMCH) is seeking an experienced Senior Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynecology with subspecialty expertise in Maternal–Fetal Medicine (MFM).
The successful candidate will provide advanced care for high-risk and complex pregnancies, with a strong focus on prenatal diagnosis, fetal assessment, maternal medical complications of pregnancy, and multidisciplinary management of high-risk obstetric patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist and consultant-level management of high-risk pregnancies and complex maternal–fetal conditions.
- Perform and interpret advanced obstetric ultrasound, including fetal anatomy and anomaly scans, fetal growth assessment, cervical assessment, multiple pregnancy surveillance, and Doppler studies.
- Assess and manage pregnancies complicated by maternal medical conditions, fetal abnormalities, fetal growth restriction, preterm birth risk, multiple gestation, and other high-risk obstetric conditions.
- Provide prenatal diagnosis and counseling to patients and families.
- Perform appropriate invasive prenatal diagnostic procedures, according to individual privileges and scope of practice, such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
- Develop individualized antenatal surveillance and delivery plans for complex pregnancies.
- Work closely with Obstetrics & Gynecology, Neonatology/NICU, Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, Radiology, Genetics and other relevant specialties.
- Participate in labor ward coverage, obstetric emergencies and consultant on-call duties as required.
- Provide clinical leadership, supervision and mentorship to junior physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in clinical governance, morbidity and mortality reviews, quality improvement, guideline development, teaching and departmental activities.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure practice is aligned with hospital policies and internationally recognized standards of care.
Qualifications & Experience
- Medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Recognized specialist/board qualification in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Formal fellowship, subspecialty training or recognized qualification in Maternal–Fetal Medicine / Fetal Medicine / High-Risk Obstetrics.
- Western or internationally recognized board certification is highly preferred.
- Extensive post-specialization experience in Obstetrics & Gynecology, with significant recent clinical practice in Maternal–Fetal Medicine.
- Experience at Consultant/Senior Consultant level in a recognized tertiary or high-volume hospital is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrable procedural and ultrasound experience supported by an appropriate clinical logbook.
- Previous experience in teaching, clinical leadership, protocol development or quality improvement is desirable.
- Must meet the eligibility requirements for Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP), Ministry of Public Health – Qatar licensing and classification.
