About the Role
This position is responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals to patients of all ages and performing nuclear medicine studies using imaging and ancillary equipment.

- PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs radiopharmaceuticals kit preparations and quality control according to department procedure and manufacturer specifications
- Administers radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with established regulations and accreditation agencies
- Explains procedures to patient and gives proper instructions
- Performs quality control and quality assurance procedures
- Performs regular procedures on instrumentation, including dose calibrators, scintillation well counter and thyroid probe and scintillation cameras, to ensure that they operate as planned
- Performs nuclear imaging and counting procedures according to department protocols
- Calibrates nuclear imaging and counting instrumentation prior to patient procedure
- Positions patient to obtain optimum resolution images and acquires analog/digital images as prescribed
- Labels finished hard copies with proper identification and checks films with physician
- Ensures radiation safety by adhering to appropriate and established regulations
- Maintains required record keeping and documentation

- Typical physical demands include:
- a high degree of manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer functions on a keyboard, produce materials on a PC and operate basic office equipment
- ability to maneuver and operate technical equipment
- ability to assist with positioning and transporting patients (i.e., pushing beds, stretchers and wheelchairs)
- exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids and some radioactive materials
- normal or corrected vision and hearing
- extensive sitting, standing and/or walking
- mobility sufficient to visit with departments or employees throughout CCAD and lift up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications
- A. Bachelor’s degree (four (4) year curriculum) from an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine, or equivalent qualification (minimum three (3) year duration)
- B. Associate’s degree (two (2) year curriculum) or two (2) year certificate form an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent
- C. Graduation from an accredited program (minimum three (3) years duration) in Radiography/Radiology
- Registration or certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (N.M.T.C.B.), or equivalent, is required
- Master’s degree in Nuclear Medicine or relevant clinical master’s in a related field is preferred (will reduce one (1) year from the required years of experience)
