*Minimum Qualifications*The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
*Education And Formal Training*:* High school diploma or equivalent required * EKG certification preferred * All internal and external applicants will be required to take a Dysrhythmia class and must successfully pass the required test within 60 days of employment with the following exception: Applicants with EKG certification or previous MT experience will be provided the option to take and pass the Dysrhythmia test in lieu of taking the class. Successful passing of the test will allow the MT to be exempt from the requirement of taking the initial class. All employees will be required to successfully pass the advanced dysrhythmia test every 6 months (April and October each year)
*Work Experience*:* 1 year of monitor technician experience preferred * 1 year of healthcare experience (i.e. Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, MT) preferred * 1 year of medical terminology experience preferred
*Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required*:* Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language * Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills * Verbal and written skills required * Remains calm under emergency situations
*Physical Requirements*:* Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs * Visual acuity for observation of patients * Long periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending and lifting * May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
