Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation:
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for MEP systems based on project specifications, drawings, and scope of work.
* Analyze and evaluate plans, specifications, and addenda for all MEP components.
- Project Coordination:
* Collaborate with design, engineering, and project management teams to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
* Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess the scope of work and address any concerns.
- Supplier and Subcontractor Management:
* Identify and solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers for MEP components.
* Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors to ensure competitive and accurate cost proposals.
- Documentation:
* Maintain comprehensive records of all estimates, including breakdowns of labor, materials, overhead, and profit margins.
* Prepare and submit detailed bid packages for review by project stakeholders.
- Analysis and Reporting:
* Conduct value engineering analyses to identify cost-saving opportunities.
* Provide detailed reports and presentations on estimated costs and project viability to management.
- Continuous Improvement:
* Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to MEP systems and estimating.
* Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes and tools.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
· Proven experience as an estimator for MEP systems in the construction industry 6 to 8 years.
· Strong understanding of MEP systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection.
· Proficient in estimating software and tools (e.g. Bluebeam, Plan swift, or equivalent).
· Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with strong attention to detail.
· Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
· Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst - CCEA) are a plus.
