About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder to join our Egypt-based team supporting Hospital operations.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing clinical documentation, assigning accurate diagnosis and procedure codes, ensuring compliance with applicable coding guidelines, and supporting accurate medical billing and reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical records, physician notes, procedure reports, and discharge summaries.
- Assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes based on clinical documentation.
- Apply coding guidelines, sequencing rules, modifiers, and relevant coding conventions.
- Identify incomplete, unclear, or conflicting documentation and raise queries through approved procedures.
- Ensure assigned codes accurately reflect documented medical services and conditions.
- Coordinate with Billing and Authorization teams to resolve coding discrepancies.
- Review coding-related claim denials and make appropriate corrections supported by documentation.
- Participate in coding audits and implement corrective feedback.
- Maintain accurate coding records and achieve quality and productivity targets.
- Stay updated on coding guidelines, regulatory changes, and payer requirements.
- Identify recurring documentation gaps and support process improvements.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital information-security policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Healthcare-related discipline, Health Information Management, or a relevant field.
- 2–4 years of practical Medical Coding experience (proposed requirement), preferably within a hospital or multispecialty healthcare environment.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical documentation.
- Practical knowledge of medical coding systems such as ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS, where applicable to the supported hospital.
- Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and medical coding software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and coding accuracy.
- Good English reading and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet coding productivity targets and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPC, CCS, or equivalent Medical Coding certification, relevant to the assigned coding scope.
- Previous experience supporting hospital insurance operations.
- Experience with medical claims, coding denials, and reimbursement processes.
- Experience working in hospitals or multispecialty medical facilities.
