Christy Media Solutions is recruiting a Legal Specialist on behalf of our client in Qatar, offering an opportunity for an experienced media lawyer to provide commercially focused legal and regulatory advice across media, entertainment, content, technology and digital activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial, media, OTT/streaming, content, technology, licensing, sponsorship, partnership, procurement and service agreements.
- Advising on content acquisition, licensing, distribution, clearance, exploitation and media rights.
- Managing legal matters relating to intellectual property, copyright, trademarks, brand protection and digital/media assets.
- Advising on media regulation, content compliance, privacy/data protection, telecommunications, advertising, marketing and digital regulatory requirements.
- Supporting strategic partnerships, business development and investment initiatives across the media and digital sector.
- Providing commercially practical legal advice to senior management and internal stakeholders.
The successful candidate will bring:
- Qualification as a lawyer with a recognised law degree and 6–10 years' PQE.
- A minimum of six years' relevant legal experience within corporate-level media, entertainment, broadcasting, OTT, streaming or digital media.
- Strong expertise in commercial agreements, content/media rights, copyright and intellectual property.
- Experience with content acquisition, licensing, distribution and clearance, including multi-jurisdictional matters.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to understand market practice and challenge contractual terms.
- The ability to work collaboratively and adaptably within an existing legal team.
- English language proficiency.
International experience is a priority and previous Middle East experience is not required. Arabic would be advantageous, while experience across both production and broadcasting would be particularly valuable.
