Legal Counsel – Qatar
CLIENT
Linum Consult’s client is a major company operating in the Middle East. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Arabic- and English-speaking Lawyer who can provide advice on contentious and non-contentious matters related to the construction and operational activities of the company. This role will be based in Qatar.
ROLE
- Providing non-contentious advice to the company’s departments to ensure that all aspects of contract management receive a high-quality legal service
- Ensuring that the activities of the company are conducted lawfully and in compliance with all the relevant contracts, procedures and regulations
- Providing advice in accordance with the company’s contracts and commercial policies and procedures
- Attending to board matters, corporate and commercial matters
- Reviewing service and commercial contracts, and assisting in the procurement of professional and commercial services
- Drafting and reviewing MOUs between project stakeholders
- Providing research, legal opinions, and advice concerning specific issues
- Interfacing with key external government and private sector stakeholders
- Assisting in dispute resolution and arbitrations
PROFILE
- University degree in Law from a recognised law school, with admittance to a recognised Bar or holding a current practicing certificate issued by a recognised Law Society
- At least 8 years’ experience working in a private practice, with significant corporate and commercial experience within the Infrastructure Construction sector
- Extensive experience in construction law, contracts (specifically the FIDIC suite of contracts), and legal matters associated with dispute resolution and international commercial arbitrations
- Previous experience of working in the Middle East is essential, with strong knowledge of their legal systems and civil code system
- The candidate must be fluent in both written and spoken English and Arabic
- Due to our client’s ongoing commitment to Qatarization, only Qatari nationals will be selected at this time
