Lead the way we build quality
At First.Tech, we're building and scaling digital products across financial services and other industries. As our engineering organization grows, we're looking for a Lead Quality Assurance Engineer to help shape how quality is approached across our products.
This is more than a testing role. You'll take ownership of QA strategy, automation, quality standards, release readiness, and continuous improvement, while working closely with Engineering and Product teams throughout the development lifecycle.
We're looking for someone who can remain hands-on while also bringing the technical leadership needed to raise the quality bar across the team.
What You'll Do
- Own and evolve the overall QA strategy across products and development teams.
- Establish quality standards, testing practices, and processes that can scale with a growing engineering organization.
- Work closely with Engineering and Product leadership to identify quality risks early and build quality into the development lifecycle.
- Lead the planning and execution of functional, regression, integration, API, performance, and usability testing.
- Design and improve automated testing strategies for web and mobile applications.
- Evaluate and introduce modern QA automation frameworks and tools where they can improve coverage and efficiency.
- Leverage AI-assisted testing tools for test design, automation, defect analysis, and test optimization.
- Review and validate AI-generated test cases, scripts, and testing outputs to ensure they meet engineering and quality standards.
- Define and monitor quality metrics, identify recurring issues, and drive improvements based on data and root-cause analysis.
- Work closely with developers to investigate complex defects, identify root causes, and prevent recurring quality issues.
- Own release quality and provide clear visibility on test coverage, risks, outstanding defects, and release readiness.
- Continuously improve automation frameworks, regression suites, test environments, and QA processes.
- Mentor QA engineers and promote strong testing practices, technical ownership, and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to technical discussions and provide QA input during architecture, requirements, and feature planning.
- Stay up to date with emerging testing technologies, AI-assisted QA, automation frameworks, and Quality Engineering practices.
What We're Looking For
- 6–10 years of experience in Software QA, Quality Engineering, or Software Testing.
- Proven experience taking ownership of QA strategy, processes, or testing standards within a software engineering environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with both manual and automated testing.
- Experience testing web and mobile applications, including iOS and Android.
- Strong understanding of functional, regression, integration, API, performance, and end-to-end testing.
- Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as Postman or equivalent.
- Strong experience with SQL Server / MS SQL for backend validation and data testing.
- Experience with automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Appium, Cypress, or equivalent.
- Experience designing or maintaining scalable test automation frameworks.
- Experience working with Git/GitHub, Jira, and Agile development methodologies.
- Exposure to AI-powered or AI-assisted testing tools and modern QA workflows.
- Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated test cases, automation scripts, and test results.
- Experience mentoring or technically guiding other QA engineers.
- Strong understanding of software development practices and the ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering and Product teams.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
