Do you want to set the technical direction for a new data platform while staying close to the technology as it is being built? Together with Oddwork, Motorit is looking for a Lead Data Architect to play a central role in its investment in data and AI and shape how Motorit and Bilia work with data going forward.
About the role
As Lead Data Architect, you will be a key member of Motorit’s new Data team, helping build a modern Snowflake-based data platform from the ground up. Your leadership will be technical rather than managerial, meaning the role does not include people management or personnel responsibility. Instead, you will set the technical direction, establish common principles and guide the Data Engineers in architectural and technical decisions. You will stay close to the implementation, working alongside the team to turn architecture into solutions that work in practice. A key part of your role will be creating a common structure for data across multiple systems, ensuring it is harmonized, modelled and quality-assured to support reusable data products across the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing the target architecture for the Snowflake-based data platform
- Establishing principles for data modelling, data products and Customer 360
- Defining principles for business rules, mappings and reference data
- Ensuring sustainable architecture for GDPR, PII, security and access
- Establishing principles for data contracts, metadata, lineage, data quality and observability
- Providing technical guidance to the Data Engineers while remaining close to implementation
We believe you have:
Has an extensive background in data architecture and modern data platforms and enjoys combining long-term architecture with practical implementation. You can see the bigger picture, set a clear technical direction and make important technical decisions while remaining close to the team and technology. You value a strong team culture, enjoy sharing knowledge and believe the best solutions are built through close collaboration.
Experience with dbt, DataOps and CI/CD, Customer 360, master/reference data, API and event-driven data sources, or data products for analytics and AI/ML is considered a plus. Experience establishing a new data platform or data organization from an early stage is also highly valuable.
Above all, we are looking for someone who enjoys building, not just designing
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in data architecture and modern data platforms
- Preferably with a few years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Proven and extensive hands-on experience with Snowflake
- Strong understanding of data modelling and harmonizing data from multiple source systems
- Strong SQL skills and knowledge of modern transformation patterns, preferably dbt
- Experience with data governance, data quality, metadata and lineage
- Good understanding of information security, GDPR and PII
- Ability to combine long-term architectural principles with pragmatic technical decisions
- Ability to communicate complex technical topics with both engineers and business stakeholders
- University degree within IT, technology or a related field
