Our client is a Dubai-based private investment group with a diverse and growing portfolio of investments across media, technology, consumer, real estate and other private market opportunities. The group operates with a highly entrepreneurial investment approach, combining direct principal investing, family-office capital and strategic investment platforms. Its investment activity ranges from established portfolio businesses and structured private equity transactions through to opportunistic investments sourced through an extensive international network.
The organisation is continuing to expand its investment activities and is looking to appoint an experienced Investment Director to work closely with the principals and senior investment team from Dubai.
Role
This is a broad and highly hands-on investment position covering the full investment lifecycle, from initial opportunity assessment and financial analysis through to execution, portfolio management and eventual exit.
The Investment Director will assess opportunities across multiple sectors and investment structures, including minority investments, control transactions, acquisitions and strategic growth opportunities.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Screening and evaluating new investment opportunities
• Building detailed financial models, valuations and investment cases
• Leading financial and commercial due diligence
• Reviewing financial statements, business plans and forecasts
• Structuring transactions and supporting commercial negotiations
• Preparing investment papers and recommendations for senior stakeholders
• Managing transactions through signing and completion
• Working directly with founders and management teams post-investment
• Supporting portfolio companies with performance, financing, acquisitions and disposals
• Producing portfolio analysis, board materials and performance reporting
• Managing multiple live transactions and portfolio workstreams simultaneously
The role offers unusually broad exposure. While there will be significant activity across media and founder-led businesses, the successful candidate could be assessing opportunities across several different asset classes and industries at any given time. This is not a traditional investment role supported by a large junior team. The Investment Director will be expected to remain close to the detail — building the model, interrogating the numbers, reviewing documentation and sitting directly with founders and management teams.
Candidate
We are looking for a senior investment professional with a strong background in private equity, family office, principal investing or a comparable direct investment environment.
The successful candidate is likely to demonstrate:
• Strong transaction experience across the full investment lifecycle
• Experience investing in privately owned and founder-led businesses
• Exposure to both minority and control investments
• Excellent financial modelling, valuation and investment analysis capabilities
• Strong commercial judgement and investment decision-making skills
• Experience leading due diligence and transaction execution
• Confidence working directly with founders, shareholders, advisers and senior stakeholders
• The ability to operate across different sectors and asset classes
• Strong portfolio management and value-creation experience
• A highly hands-on, entrepreneurial and adaptable approach
• High levels of discretion and sound judgement
Candidates should already be based in Dubai or be willing to relocate.
