About the Role:
Our client, a market-leading global online delivery platform, is seeking a seasoned Head of Employment Law to lead the central labor and employment legal function from Amsterdam. You will advise executive leadership and People/HR teams on strategic labor relations, collective bargaining, European labor legislation, restructuring, and employment litigation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the global employment law strategy, advising on complex labor relations, worker classifications, and workforce restructurings.
- Partner closely with Chief People Officer and HR leaders on employment policies, compensation/benefits frameworks, and equity plans.
- Guide works council consultations, collective labor agreement (CLA) negotiations, and trade union relations across European markets.
- Oversee high-stakes employment litigation, dispute resolutions, and sensitive executive separations across jurisdictions.
- Monitor developments in EU labor law, platform worker directives, and cross-border mobility regulations to protect the business.
- Formulate global employment governance standards, disciplinary protocols, and anti-harassment/diversity policies.
- Manage external specialist labor counsel across multiple European countries ensuring cost efficiency and legal excellence.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Master of Laws (LL.M.) or equivalent qualification in Dutch or European Labor Law with 10+ years of post-qualification experience.
- In-depth expertise in European employment law, works councils (WOR), collective bargaining, and international labor standards.
- Experience operating in high-growth technology, platform economy, logistics, or multi-jurisdictional retail businesses.
- Strong commercial acumen with a practical, solutions-driven approach to complex human capital challenges.
- Proven track record navigating sensitive investigations, restructuring programs, and board-level risk management.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and cross-cultural leadership skills.
- Fluency in English is required; Dutch or additional European languages are highly advantageous.
