Title: Head of Asset Recovery

About the Client
Our client, a well-established bank in Qatar, is looking for an experienced Head of Asset Recovery. You will own the bank's end-to-end recovery function, driving down credit losses and improving outcomes on problem and non-performing accounts. You will shape how recovery is run, governed, and measured, so it stays aligned with the bank's risk appetite and commercial goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the bank's recovery approach, including the policies, processes, and annual plans that underpin it
- Oversee recovery work from early arrears through to legal enforcement, across retail and corporate books
- Track overdue and non-performing balances, recovery rates, and losses, and spot portfolio deterioration early
- Build the KPI framework, recovery targets, early-warning triggers, and case-management controls
- Advise on the best route for significant problem accounts, whether rescheduling, negotiated settlement, write-off, or litigation
- Appoint and manage external partners, including collection agencies, law firms, valuers, and asset-sale partners
- Present portfolio trends, recovery forecasts, and recommendations to senior leadership and credit committees
- Keep the function fully compliant with regulatory, legal, internal policy, and audit standards
- Lead and develop the recovery team, building a culture of ownership and delivery
Key Requirements
- Degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business, Law, or a similar discipline
- 10+ years in banking or financial services across collections, remedial, workout, or recovery roles, with at least 4 years leading teams
- Track record of resolving large, complex problem and non-performing exposures
- In-depth understanding of restructuring, enforcement, provisioning, and NPL management
- Sharp credit judgement and strong financial analysis skills
- Confident negotiator with strong leadership and stakeholder skills
