The General Manager will be responsible for the overall management, commercial performance, and operational effectiveness of the business, with full accountability for P&L, business growth, team performance, project delivery, and customer satisfaction.
The role requires a hands-on business leader with relevant experience in signage, printing, fabrication, advertising production, or a related project-based environment. The General Manager will oversee the complete business cycle—from sales and client requirements through costing, production/fabrication, installation, delivery, and project completion—while ensuring profitability, quality, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the overall business and take responsibility for commercial, operational, production, and financial performance.
- Own and manage the P&L, including revenue, gross margins, operating expenses, budgets, cash flow considerations, and overall profitability.
- Develop and implement business plans, budgets, and growth strategies in line with management objectives.
- Drive revenue growth by supporting business development, strengthening key client relationships, and identifying new market opportunities.
- Lead and manage the overall team across sales, design, production/fabrication, project execution, installation, and support functions.
- Establish clear departmental objectives, KPIs, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
- Oversee projects from initial client enquiry and estimation through design, costing, material planning, production/fabrication, installation, delivery, and final handover.
- Review quotations, project costing, pricing, margins, and commercial terms to ensure projects achieve required profitability.
- Ensure client requirements, specifications, drawings, materials, quantities, timelines, and installation requirements are properly understood before execution.
- Oversee workshop operations and ensure effective utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, equipment, and production capacity.
- Monitor project progress, quality, costs, deadlines, and client commitments and intervene where necessary to resolve issues.
- Maintain strong relationships with key clients and participate in important commercial, technical, and project discussions.
- Conduct client and site visits when required to understand requirements, review implementation, and resolve project-related matters.
- Oversee procurement and inventory requirements and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, installers, and other service providers.
- Monitor material consumption, wastage, productivity, rework, and operational costs and implement measures to improve efficiency and margins.
- Ensure appropriate maintenance and utilization of workshop machinery and production equipment.
- Drive continuous improvement across production processes, workflows, quality standards, turnaround times, and cost control.
- Identify operational, commercial, and financial risks and take timely corrective action.
- Ensure appropriate quality, health, safety, and housekeeping standards across workshop and project sites.
- Provide regular business performance reports to the owners/senior management, covering sales, pipeline, revenue, profitability, project performance, operational issues, and key priorities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, Production, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Proven experience in a General Manager, Business Unit Manager, Operations Manager, Commercial & Operations Manager, or similar senior leadership role.
- Relevant industry experience within signage, fabrication, digital/large-format printing, advertising production, branding, exhibition/display production, or a closely related sector.
- Proven experience managing P&L, budgets, revenue, costs, margins, and overall business performance.
- Strong understanding of project-based production environments covering costing, materials, production/fabrication, finishing, installation, and delivery.
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing overall business operations.
- Strong commercial orientation with the ability to balance sales growth, operational delivery, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
- Experience managing multiple projects with different specifications, budgets, and deadlines.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder-management skills.
- Good knowledge of the Kuwait market and an established local network would be advantageous.
