About the Role
As a Footwear Designer, you will own the technical translation of footwear concepts into accurate, production-ready tech packs. You will define construction details, materials, colourways, measurements, artwork, trims, and finishing requirements so suppliers and manufacturing teams can execute the intended product consistently. The role combines footwear design understanding with rigorous documentation and cross-functional follow-through. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external development partners to review samples, identify gaps, manage revisions, and resolve issues before production. Success means reducing rework, improving sample accuracy, protecting quality, and helping the brand deliver commercially relevant footwear on schedule. You may support styles serving customers across India and the GCC, so practical awareness of regional preferences and production requirements will be valuable. This is an onsite, mid-level opportunity for a designer who can operate independently while communicating clearly across creative and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Create complete footwear tech packs covering specifications, construction, materials, colourways, components, measurements, artwork, labelling, packaging, and finishing requirements for accurate supplier execution.
- Translate design concepts into manufacturable products by evaluating construction choices, material suitability, production constraints, target costs, quality standards, and intended customer experience.
- Coordinate sample development with suppliers and internal teams, documenting feedback, tracking revisions, and closing technical gaps before approvals and production handover.
- Review prototypes and samples against approved specifications, identify deviations, and drive corrective actions that improve fit, appearance, function, consistency, and manufacturing readiness.
- Maintain organized product records, version control, and technical updates so design, sourcing, development, and manufacturing stakeholders work from one reliable source of truth.
- Contribute design solutions aligned with footwear trends, customer needs, commercial objectives, and regional market insights across India and GCC markets.
- Manage assigned styles and development milestones with clear priorities, timely communication, and escalation of risks affecting quality, cost, or launch timelines.
Essential Skills & Technologies
- Strong footwear tech pack creation skills, including technical drawings, specifications, construction details, material callouts, colourways, measurements, artwork, and component documentation.
- Working knowledge of footwear construction, materials, sampling, fit review, manufacturing processes, supplier communication, and quality-control requirements.
- Proficiency with relevant design and documentation tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM, CAD, or comparable footwear product-development systems.
Additional Plus
- Experience developing multiple footwear categories, including knowledge of how construction, materials, fit, and performance requirements vary across product types.
- Exposure to suppliers or manufacturing partners in India, the GCC, or other international footwear production markets, with the ability to manage development remotely when required.
- Awareness of regional consumer preferences, footwear trends, costing considerations, and commercial product decisions that improve market relevance.
- A portfolio demonstrating footwear concepts, technical drawings, completed tech packs, sample iterations, and production-ready product outcomes.
What You'll Bring
- You will bring 3–6 years of footwear design or footwear product-development experience, with strong evidence of creating and managing production-ready tech packs. You understand how design intent becomes a physical product and can make practical decisions about construction, materials, components, fit, comfort, appearance, durability, and manufacturing feasibility.
- You are detail-oriented without losing sight of commercial priorities, and you can explain technical requirements clearly to suppliers, developers, and cross-functional partners. You work confidently with design and documentation software and maintain disciplined version control across multiple styles.
- You are comfortable reviewing samples, identifying deviations, incorporating feedback, and driving actions through closure. You take ownership of deadlines and escalate risks early when they could affect quality, cost, or delivery.
- Experience working with footwear factories, vendors, or international teams will strengthen your fit for the role. A relevant bachelor’s degree is useful, though equivalent practical experience will be considered.
- Most importantly, you combine creative judgment, technical accuracy, structured communication, and accountability for the final product.
