Role Description The Environmental Health Safety Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Iraq. This position is responsible for implementing and monitoring EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and applicable regulations. Day-to-day tasks include conducting risk assessments, site inspections, and audits; identifying hazards; and recommending corrective actions. The specialist will deliver safety training, maintain incident and inspection records, and support investigations to prevent recurrence of unsafe events. The role also involves collaborating with operations and management teams to promote a strong safety culture, improve workplace conditions, and support environmental stewardship across projects.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in Health & Safety and Occupational Health, with the ability to identify risks and implement preventive measures.
- Experience in Environment Health and Safety (EHS), including development and application of EHS programs and procedures.
- Proficiency in Workplace Safety practices, such as hazard assessment, incident reporting, and corrective action tracking.
- Ability to design and deliver effective Safety Training tailored to different workforce groups and operational contexts.
- Relevant bachelor’s degree in EHS, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of local and international EHS regulations and standards applicable to industrial or energy-sector operations.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working in field or site-based roles, preferably in Iraq or similar environments, is an advantage.
- Professional EHS certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) are considered beneficial.
