As an Engineering Manager, you'll build high-performing teams, help define modern engineering practices, and create products that make daily work simpler, faster and better for colleagues in stores, giving them more time to focus on customers. You'll play a key role in driving AI-enabled colleague experiences and evolving how engineering teams build software in an AI-first world.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Lead the development of new products and AI-enabled experiences that make daily work simpler for store colleagues and give them more time to focus on customers.
- Change how teams build software by putting AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices into real use, learning from the results and establishing what good looks like.
- Partner closely with Product Managers, designers and stakeholders to shape product direction and outcomes, ensuring that technology creates real value for store colleagues and customers.
- Raise the engineering bar across architecture, security, observability and operational ownership, helping teams build products they can reliably own and evolve.
- Help teams make pragmatic technology decisions across modern product architecture, data, integrations and build-versus-buy choices.
- Build and develop a high-performing engineering team, growing capability through coaching, hiring and clear expectations.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
You will join the Retail Staff Tools area, where we build digital products used by 100,000 store colleagues across H&M Group. Our mission is simple: make daily work simpler, smarter and more effective, freeing up more time for colleagues to serve customers. You will initially work across colleague-facing products and Workforce Management, with the opportunity to shape emerging AI-enabled experiences and future Staff Tools capabilities. We are looking for someone who enjoys building products, shaping engineering and turning ideas into real-world impact.
WHO YOU ARE
- You have a hands-on software engineering background and have stayed close to modern engineering practices.
- You have previous experience as an Engineering Manager with delivery and people responsibility.
- You understand the importance of architecture, security, observability and operational ownership, and know how they contribute to building reliable, scalable and maintainable products.
- You have experience building and evolving digital products and platforms in modern product organizations.
- You are comfortable leading through change, turning ideas into working solutions and helping teams succeed in areas that do not yet have a well-defined blueprint.
- You have practical experience using AI-assisted software development and a clear view of how engineering teams need to evolve.
- You have practical experience building and bringing AI-enabled products or capabilities into real-world use.
Nice to have:
- Experience with modern data platforms, data products or lakehouse architectures.
- Experience with SaaS platforms, integrations and build-versus-buy decisions.
- Experience building colleague-facing, consumer-facing, mobile or frontend products
- Experience leading distributed engineering teams.
- Retail, Workforce Management or store operations experience.
