The Electrical Procurement Engineer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and procuring electrical materials and equipment required for power projects, including substations, overhead transmission lines (OHTL), and underground cable (UGC) systems. The role ensures timely delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement activities for electrical components and systems used in power projects.
- Prepare RFQs (Requests for Quotation), analyze vendor offers, and conduct techno-commercial evaluations.
- Source and procure materials such as transformers, switchgear, cables, conductors, insulators, towers, protection systems, and associated accessories.
- Coordinate closely with engineering, project, and construction teams to understand technical requirements and project timelines.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and contract terms with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure all procured materials comply with project specifications, international standards (IEC, IEEE), and client requirements.
- Identify and develop reliable vendors for long-term partnerships.
- Monitor supplier performance and manage expediting activities to ensure on-time delivery.
- Review and approve vendor drawings, datasheets, and technical documentation in coordination with engineering teams.
- Handle procurement documentation, purchase orders, and contract administration.
- Track market trends, pricing, and supply risks related to electrical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in procurement including power projects.
- Proven experience in substations, OHTL (Overhead Transmission Lines), UGC (Underground Cables) projects.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical equipment and materials used in power transmission and distribution.
- Familiarity with international standards such as IEC, IEEE, and utility specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, BOQs, and specifications.
- Experience in techno-commercial bid evaluation.
Soft Skills
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
