About the role
Capture Energy is a Nordic BESS EPC contractor and system integrator (consultant). The Tender team turns each incoming RFQ into a complete solution offer: technical design, price and commercial terms.
As Tender Technical Engineer, you are fully responsible for the technical side of every tender. You own the conceptual design, pick and size the equipment, and make sure what we offer is technically sound and can be built as offered. You are the technical voice of the Tender team, both inside the company and toward customers. You work closely with Product, Execution and Operations, but you own the tender's technical solution yourself. This role will be based in Göteborg, Sweden with a hybrid work place setting. We encourage the candidate in submitting application even if he/she does not tick all boxes of requirements. Please be clear in motivating your strong suit.
Key responsibilities
Conceptual design for every tender
- Produce the conceptual design package for each tender: Single Line Diagram (SLD), site layout, and design documents that explain the equipment selection and sizing.
- Size the system (BESS, PCS, transformers, MV/HV equipment, cables, auxiliary power) against the customer's requirements, use case and grid connection conditions.
- Define the grid connection, protection and control concept at a level that is enough for pricing and for committing to the offer.
Customer feasibility studies and RFIs
- Support customer feasibility studies and RFIs, focusing on the technical content.
- Advise customers on system configuration, grid connection and technical trade-offs at an early stage.
Technical point of contact
- Be the single point of contact for technical questions in each tender, internally and externally.
- Handle technical clarifications, questions and deviations with customers during the tender phase.
Working across functions
- Work with Product, Execution and Operations to build and keep up enough product, execution and O&M knowledge to prepare offers independently.
- Consult Product for a sanity check on critical technical decisions.
- Feed lessons learned from projects and operations back into tender design standards.
Handover at contract award
- Put together the final technical offer and the technical compliance and deviation matrix.
- Hand the technical scope over to Execution in a structured way, making clear what was offered, on what assumptions, and why.
Tender support
- Support the non-technical parts of a tender when needed, such as cost input, document preparation and tender coordination.
Qualifications
Required
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (MSc or BSc).
- Solid work experience in the power system or industrial sector.
- Hands-on experience producing SLDs, layouts and other technical design documents.
- Experience with the grid connection process in at least one Nordic country, working with TSOs/DSOs such as Svenska kraftnät, Energinet, Fingrid, Statnett or regional grid companies.
- Familiarity with:
- Nordic grid codes and RfG (EU 2016/631) and their national implementations
- EMS and power plant control
- control theory as applied to inverter-based resources
- relevant IEC/EN standards
- Understanding of Nordic ancillary services: FCR-N, FCR-D, FFR, aFRR and mFRR.
Bonus
- Experience with BESS projects.
- Experience in tender, proposal or pre-sales engineering in an EPC or supplier setting.
- Knowledge of protection coordination and settings, and of power system studies (load flow, short-circuit).
- Knowledge of PSS/E or PSCAD simulation.
Personal qualities
- Works independently and takes ownership of their technical solution from concept to handover.
- Structured, and comfortable under the fixed deadlines tendering brings.
- Explains technical topics clearly to both technical and commercial audiences.
- Willing to step outside a purely technical role when the team needs it.
Language
- Fluent in English. Swedish or another Nordic language is a merit.
