The Role
As Creative Director, Formats, you will be responsible for driving the development pipeline, creating new business opportunities and securing commissions across the region.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing a development and pitching strategy that supports business growth and delivers new commissions.
- Creating opportunities to launch both original and catalogue formats in the Benelux market.
- Driving the development of original unscripted formats with strong commercial and editorial potential.
- Identifying opportunities to adapt and localise BBC Studios formats for broadcasters, streamers and platforms.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with commissioners, broadcasters, streamers and creative partners.
- Leading creative partnerships and co-development initiatives both locally and internationally.
- Collaborating closely with BBC Studios teams across multiple territories to maximise format opportunities.
- Leading, inspiring and developing the local development team.
- Partnering with production teams to ensure creative excellence from development through to production.
- Monitoring market trends, commissioning priorities and audience behaviour across the Netherlands and Flanders.
- Managing the development slate, resources and budget to ensure a focused and effective creative pipeline.
We're looking for an experienced creative leader with a passion for developing and selling outstanding television formats.
You'll bring:
Essential
- Significant senior-level television development experience with a proven track record of developing and pitching unscripted formats.
- Demonstrable success in securing commissions, developing original IP and building strong development pipelines.
- Existing relationships with commissioners and development teams across the Netherlands.
- Strong knowledge of the Dutch television and streaming landscape.
- Experience leading, managing and mentoring development teams.
- Excellent pitching, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness combined with exceptional creative instincts.
- The ability to build trusted relationships with commissioners, producers, talent and creative partners.
Desirable
- Existing relationships within the Flemish market.
- Experience working within an international production, format or media business.
- Experience providing creative oversight of productions, whether original formats or format adaptations.
