Job PurposeResponsible for supporting project cost control and fixed assets accounting activities by accurately recording, monitoring, analyzing, and reconciling project costs and fixed asset transactions. The role ensures reliable financial information, accurate asset records, timely cost reporting, and proper accounting treatment in accordance with applicable accounting standards, internal policies, and approved budgets, while supporting month-end closing, audits, and management reporting.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- * Monitoring and analyzing project costs against approved budgets, identifying variances between actual and planned costs, and preparing detailed cost analysis to support effective financial control.
- Recording, reviewing, and allocating project-related costs to the appropriate projects, cost centers, accounts, and cost categories, ensuring accuracy and proper accounting classification.
- Preparing periodic project cost reports, variance analyses, and supporting schedules, highlighting significant deviations and providing relevant financial information to the Section Head and management.
- Supporting project budgeting and cost forecasting activities by providing historical cost information, actual expenditure data, commitments, and other required financial analyses.
- Maintaining the fixed assets register by accurately recording asset additions, transfers, capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and other fixed asset movements in accordance with approved accounting policies.
- Reviewing project expenditures for capitalization and supporting the proper classification of costs between capital expenditure and operating expenditure, including the transfer of completed eligible project costs to fixed assets where applicable.
- Performing regular reconciliations between project cost records, fixed assets registers, supporting schedules, and general ledger balances, investigating and resolving discrepancies in coordination with relevant parties.
- Supporting periodic physical verification of fixed assets, reconciling physical counts with accounting records, documenting differences, and following up on required adjustments.
- Supporting monthly and year-end closing activities related to project costs and fixed assets, including depreciation calculations, reconciliations, accrual-related supporting information, and preparation of closing schedules.
- Supporting internal and external audit requirements by preparing requested documentation, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting evidence while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, procedures, and controls.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
Experience: 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within real estate development, construction, or a related industry.
Training & Certification: Training in Fixed Assets Accounting and Cost Control is preferred.
