If your background is in industrial controls, automation, PLCs, SCADA, electrical systems or instrumentation, the Town of Clayton wants to hear from you.
We are looking for an experienced controls and automation professional to help maintain and improve the systems that keep Clayton’s water and wastewater infrastructure operating reliably.

- Sensors, meters, transducers and flow instrumentation
- Pumps, motors and motorized valves
- Process control and monitoring equipment
- Generators and bypass pumping systems
You will troubleshoot, repair, install, modify and maintain these systems throughout the Town's water and wastewater operations.
The position also supervises pump and instrumentation technicians and helps coordinate preventive and predictive maintenance, contractors, equipment installations and other technical work.
What We're Looking ForWe're interested in candidates who understand how automated and electrical systems work and know how to troubleshoot them when they don't.
Strong candidates may have experience with:
- PLC programming and troubleshooting

A high school diploma or GED is required. Vocational or technical education in an electrical or electronic field is preferred.
Water and wastewater certifications are preferred, but the Town may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the work.
Why Consider Clayton? This is an opportunity to take the controls and automation skills you have developed in industry and apply them to critical public infrastructure.
Instead of supporting a single production line or facility, your work will help operate systems that Clayton residents and businesses rely on every day.
Town employees also receive benefits including a retirement pension, 401(k), State Health Plan coverage, paid vacation, sick leave and holidays.
