Role Description The Chartering / Operations Executive is a JUNIOR, ENTRY LEVEL POSITION, full-time, on-site role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, responsible for managing and developing vessel chartering activities. Daily tasks include identifying suitable cargoes and vessels, negotiating charter party terms, and coordinating fixtures and post-fixtures between ship owners and charterers. The role involves monitoring freight markets, gathering and analyzing market intelligence, maintaining up-to-date records of fixtures and enquiries, and preparing reports for internal stakeholders. The Chartering Executive will build and maintain relationships with clients and partners, handle correspondence and contractual documentation, and follow up on voyage performance and operational issues in coordination with operations teams. This position requires regular communication by phone, email, and in-person meetings to ensure timely, accurate, and commercially sound chartering decisions.
Qualifications
- Chartering and brokerage knowledge, including familiarity with oil tankers, oil & petroleum cargoes, routes, and standard charter party terms.
- Commercial and analytical skills to interpret freight market trends, evaluate business opportunities, and support competitive pricing decisions.
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities to interact with ship owners, charterers, and internal teams in a professional manner.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple enquiries, negotiations, and documentation accurately and within tight deadlines and across time-zones
- Proficiency with standard office software and digital tools (e.g., Excel, email platforms, market information systems and AI tools); comfort working with data and reports.
- Relevant experience in shipbroking, chartering, or maritime commerce is highly beneficial; exposure to tanker, or bulk markets is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in the shipping industry.
- Professional fluency in English, with additional language skills considered an asset; ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, multicultural environment.
