Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Backup Engineer (L2/L3) to manage and support enterprise backup, restore, replication, and recovery environments. The role will be responsible for ensuring backup reliability, recovery readiness, data protection, retention compliance, and capacity management across the organization's infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain enterprise backup and recovery platforms.
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot backup and replication jobs.
- Perform backup restoration and recovery operations across physical and virtual environments.
- Monitor backup success rates, failures, capacity, and system health.
- Investigate and resolve backup-related incidents at L2/L3 level.
- Develop and maintain backup, retention, and recovery policies.
- Conduct regular restore testing to validate recovery readiness.
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity requirements.
- Manage backup repositories, storage utilization, and capacity planning.
- Ensure backup configurations comply with security and retention requirements.
- Perform backup infrastructure upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
- Maintain technical documentation, procedures, and recovery runbooks.
- Work with infrastructure, systems, security, and application teams to resolve complex issues.
- Participate in disaster recovery exercises and provide recovery support.
- Provide technical support during major incidents and recovery events.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 4–7 years of experience in backup, recovery, systems, or infrastructure engineering.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise backup and recovery environments.
- Strong experience with Veeam, Veritas NetBackup, or similar enterprise backup platforms.
- Experience with VMware/virtualized environments and physical servers.
- Good understanding of backup architecture, replication, retention, and recovery concepts.
- Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and incident-management skills.
Preferred Certifications
- Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE)
- Veritas NetBackup certification
- Relevant vendor backup/storage certification
