Sub-Business Unit Overview: Deals Advisory
Deals Advisory helps clients see beyond immediate transaction challenges to future opportunities. By providing insight throughout the deal lifecycle, from strategy and evaluation through execution and value realization, we give clients the confidence to make the right decision at the right time. Our teams support acquisitions, disposals, investments, restructuring and value creation by combining commercial, financial and operational perspectives.
Role Overview
Builds and cultivates strong business relationships and demonstrates technical, commercial and operational leadership in delivering high-quality, client-centric Deals Advisory solutions. Leads the preparation, execution, reporting and evaluation of larger and higher-risk engagements across the deal lifecycle. Provides senior-level advice on financial due diligence, valuation, transaction strategy, deal execution and value creation, as relevant to the engagement. Advocates innovation within the firm and with clients, develops team members to their full potential, promotes collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and contributes to practice decisions, including pipeline management and resource allocation.
Primary Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
· Leads and manages multiple Deals Advisory engagements or workstreams through teams of professionals and, where required, cross-functional specialists.
· Advises clients across the deal lifecycle, including transaction strategy, financial due diligence, valuation, deal execution, restructuring and value creation, as relevant to the engagement.
· Reviews complex financial, commercial and operational information, identifies key deal issues and translates findings into clear, practical recommendations.
· Takes a leading role in negotiations and supports clients in evaluating transaction terms, risks, opportunities and value implications.
· Presents reports and findings to senior stakeholders in consultation with Partners and/or Directors, enabling clients to make informed transaction and investment decisions.
· Develops a portfolio of clients by building and maintaining strategic relationships with senior stakeholders, investors, corporates, financial institutions and other market participants.
· Identifies new opportunities with existing and prospective clients and contributes to or manages the development of proposals, credentials and thought leadership.
· Maintains awareness of market trends, sector developments, transaction activity, competitor activity and relevant products and services.
· Manages engagement scope, commercial performance, risk, resources and timelines, delivering high-quality outputs in accordance with KPMG methodologies and quality standards.
· Contributes to innovative and repeatable solutions that strengthen client outcomes and differentiate KPMG in the market.
· Identifies team development needs and provides coaching, mentoring and stretch assignments to attract, develop and retain talented colleagues.
· Builds constructive working relationships across Deals Advisory, other KPMG functions and the wider KPMG network.
Qualification and Experience
· Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in Deals Advisory, transaction services, corporate finance, investment banking, valuation, restructuring, private equity or a related field.
· Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in finance, accounting, economics, business administration or a related discipline.
· Relevant professional qualification or certification, such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, CFA or an equivalent credential, is required.
· Strong understanding of transactions, financial statements, valuation principles, deal processes and the key commercial and financial drivers of value.
· Demonstrated experience leading complex engagements and multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial and commercial information and translate it into actionable deal insights.
· Strong project and engagement management abilities, including the capability to manage scope, teams, budgets, risks, multiple priorities and demanding transaction timelines.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present complex findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
· Strong commercial acumen, with a focus on value creation, decision support, client development and high-quality delivery.
· Ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, contribute to business development and operate effectively across diverse teams and geographies.
· Strong team leadership skills, with a track record of coaching and developing high-performing professionals.
· A keen interest in staying up to date with transaction activity, sector trends, regulatory developments and emerging opportunities in Qatar and the wider region.
