Job Summary
We are looking for a highly experienced and results-driven Assistant Finance Manager with 6–9 years of overall finance and accounting experience, including a minimum of 3 years of experience within the travel, tourism, hospitality, or related industry.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, accounting operations, budgeting, financial reporting, cash-flow management, internal controls, and team leadership. The candidate should be capable of independently managing key finance functions while supporting the Finance Manager and senior management in financial planning and business decision-making.
A strong leadership and people-management background is essential, along with the ability to lead finance teams, improve processes, maintain financial discipline, and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Assist the Finance Manager in managing the overall finance and accounting functions.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Monitor revenue, expenses, profitability, cash flow, receivables, and payables.
- Analyze financial performance and provide meaningful insights to management.
- Support management with financial forecasts, budgeting, and business planning.
- Prepare financial analysis, variance reports, and performance dashboards.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing activities.
Travel Industry Finance
- Manage and monitor financial transactions related to travel and tourism operations, including ticketing, hotel bookings, packages, commissions, supplier settlements, and other travel-related revenue streams.
- Monitor receivables from corporate and individual clients and ensure timely collections.
- Review supplier/vendor balances and ensure accurate and timely settlements.
- Monitor travel agency commissions, incentives, refunds, credit notes, and related financial transactions.
- Reconcile transactions with airlines, hotels, travel suppliers, and other business partners.
- Ensure proper accounting treatment for travel-related transactions.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Assist in preparing annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
- Monitor departmental and business-unit expenditure against approved budgets.
- Identify cost-control opportunities and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct variance analysis and communicate significant deviations to management.
- Support management in evaluating the financial impact of new business initiatives.
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the finance and accounting team.
- Allocate responsibilities and ensure timely completion of finance activities.
- Review team performance and provide coaching and guidance.
- Establish clear performance expectations and promote accountability.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of finance team members.
- Develop a collaborative and high-performance finance culture.
- Take ownership of resolving operational and accounting issues within the team.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Maintain effective internal financial controls and ensure adherence to company policies.
- Identify financial risks and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors and provide required financial documentation.
- Review financial processes periodically and recommend improvements.
Cash Flow, Receivables & Payables
- Monitor daily cash flow and liquidity requirements.
- Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable activities.
- Follow up on outstanding receivables and support collection strategies.
- Ensure timely supplier payments while maintaining appropriate cash-flow controls.
- Monitor bank balances and perform regular bank reconciliations.
Process Improvement
- Identify gaps and inefficiencies within finance processes.
- Implement improvements to accounting procedures, reporting systems, and financial controls.
- Support automation and digitalization of finance processes.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of accounting records and documentation.
- Work closely with other departments to improve financial processes and reporting.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- ACCA or CMA certification is mandatory.
- 6–9 years of total professional experience in Finance & Accounting.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the Travel & Tourism industry or closely related business.
- Proven experience in a finance supervisory or leadership position.
- Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Experience managing and developing finance teams.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls.
- Experience with accounting/ERP systems and advanced MS Excel.
- Experience dealing with auditors, banks, suppliers, and senior management is preferred.
