Wynn Al Marjan Island will be the first integrated resort in the UAE. Set to open in 2027, the resort will be located 50 miles from Dubai International Airport in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The resort will offer 1,530 rooms and suites, 22 restaurants, lounges, and bars, a theater, and a beach club. It will feature multiple swimming and wading pools, a five-star spa, a salon, a shopping promenade, and a celebrations and events center.
About The PositionWynn Al Marjan Island is currently seeking an Aquatics Training Supervisor – Pool Services to join the resort’s Pool Services team.
ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties and responsibilities of this role are:
- Supervise the daily performance of the lifeguard team across pool, beach, and waterfront areas.
- Assign lifeguard positions, surveillance zones, rotations, and break coverage based on business levels and coverage standards.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings covering priorities, VIP arrivals, weather, occupancy, and safety focus points.
- Monitor lifeguard vigilance, positioning, grooming, professionalism, and adherence to standards.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to lifeguards and assigned colleagues.
- Ensure appropriate lifeguard coverage and zone presence are maintained throughout the shift.
- Escalate staffing, performance, safety, and operational concerns to leadership.
- Lead by example through visible presence, professional conduct, and hands-on support during operations and emergencies.
- Maintain required lifeguard coverage, zones of protection, and rotation protocols throughout operating hours.
- Continuously monitor surveillance quality, guest behaviour, and water conditions, and intervene as required.
- Lead and participate in rescues, first aid, CPR, AED use, and emergency action plan execution.
- Ensure rescue equipment, first aid supplies, oxygen, and AEDs are checked, maintained, and ready for use.
- Conduct and support safety drills, scenario training, and competency checks.
- Report, document, and follow up on incidents, rescues, hazards, and near-misses immediately.
- Enforce pool, beach, and waterfront safety rules with guests professionally and consistently.
- Deliver lifeguard onboarding, in-service, remedial, and refresher training to the aquatics team.
- Conduct skills, fitness, and competency assessments and document the results.
- Support lifeguard certification and recertification in line with recognized aquatic safety standards.
- Maintain accurate training records, attendance, and assessment documentation.
- Identify individual and team skill gaps and deliver targeted coaching and development.
- Work with the Aquatics Manager to maintain training standards and programme effectiveness.
- Ensure guests receive safe, attentive, and Forbes Five-Star service across all aquatic areas.
- Ensure lifeguards balance vigilant surveillance with gracious and professional guest engagement.
- Support guests with water safety information, special requests, and assistance.
- Monitor guest satisfaction in aquatic areas and identify opportunities to enhance the experience.
- Assist with guest concerns and service recovery relating to aquatic areas.
- Ensure VIP, cabana, daybed, and special-event guests in water areas receive appropriate attention.
- Oversee the daily readiness of pool, beach, and waterfront areas from a safety and coverage perspective.
- Conduct opening, mid-shift, and closing water-safety checks and equipment inspections.
- Coordinate with Pool Services supervisors, Engineering, and pool technicians on matters affecting safe operation.
- Support the execution of special events, activations, VIP setups, and high-volume operating periods.
- Monitor weather and water conditions and implement operational adjustments as required.
- Maintain operational continuity during peak demand, unexpected changes, and emergencies.
- Complete safety reports, checklists, inspections, incident reports, shift handovers, and training records accurately and on time.
- Support lifeguard scheduling input, coverage planning, and deployment records.
- Communicate safety updates, training needs, equipment issues, and operational priorities to leadership.
- Use departmental systems, radios, communication platforms, and reporting tools effectively.
- Maintain confidentiality of guest, colleague, and company records.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with the Aquatics Manager, Pool Services supervisors, and partner departments.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, briefings, training programs, and Forbes preparation.
- Promote a culture of vigilance, accountability, professionalism, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Support colleagues during peak periods and operational challenges.
- Communicate operational updates, safety observations, and training opportunities to leadership.
About YouThe ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; certifications in aquatics, recreation, or physical education preferred.
- Current, recognized Lifeguard certification required (e.g., ILS, RLSS, Ellis & Associates, or equivalent).
- Lifeguard Instructor / Trainer certification and First Aid / CPR / AED Instructor certification required or strongly preferred.
- Minimum two (2) to three (3) years of lifeguarding experience, including previous supervisory, senior lifeguard, or trainer experience preferred.
- Previous experience in a luxury hotel, resort, beach club, pool operation, or high-volume aquatic environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of aquatic safety standards, lifeguarding techniques, surveillance, rescue, and emergency response.
- Ability to deliver, assess, and document lifeguard, first aid, CPR, and AED training.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications preferred.
- Ability to utilize operational systems, communication platforms, radios, reporting tools, and departmental applications.
- Ability to complete incident reports, training records, assessments, and documentation accurately.
- Consistently lead the team in delivering service in accordance with Forbes Five-Star standards while maintaining uncompromising water safety.
- Ensure lifeguards balance vigilant surveillance with gracious, approachable, and professional guest engagement.
- Act as a role model for gracious, polished, personalized, and anticipatory service.
- Ensure all colleagues demonstrate genuine hospitality, warmth, confidence, and professionalism in every guest interaction.
- Coach the team to anticipate guest needs before requests are made whenever possible.
- Maintain a highly visible floor presence and actively support guest recognition and personalization.
- Respond promptly and effectively to guest concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up.
