Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Freelance Accountant to support the financial and accounting operations of our travel agency in Morocco. The role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring client and supplier transactions, managing travel-related expenses, supporting tax compliance, and providing regular financial reports to management.
The ideal candidate should have solid experience in accounting within Morocco, strong knowledge of Moroccan tax regulations, and preferably previous experience in the travel, tourism, or hospitality industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting transactions.
- Record and reconcile client payments, supplier payments, expenses, and other financial transactions.
- Prepare and issue invoices for clients and maintain accurate payment records.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding client payments.
- Review and process supplier invoices related to hotels, transportation, guides, excursions, activities, and other travel services.
- Reconcile supplier accounts and ensure payments are properly recorded.
- Track the financial performance and profitability of individual bookings, tours, and travel packages.
- Monitor commissions, discounts, refunds, cancellations, and credit notes.
- Perform regular bank and cash reconciliations.
- Manage transactions involving different currencies when applicable.
- Prepare monthly financial reports covering revenue, costs, expenses, outstanding payments, and profitability.
- Support cash-flow monitoring and financial planning.
- Prepare and support VAT and other applicable tax declarations in compliance with Moroccan regulations.
- Ensure proper maintenance and filing of accounting and financial documents.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other financial service providers when required.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all company and client financial information.
Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* 3+ years of accounting experience in Morocco.
* Previous experience with a travel agency, DMC, tourism company, or hospitality business is highly preferred.
* Strong knowledge of Moroccan accounting and tax regulations*.
* Practical experience with VAT, invoicing, bookkeeping, and financial reporting.
* Good knowledge of Excel and accounting software.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
* Strong analytical and organizational skills.
* Previous freelance or external accounting experience is a plus.
