Role Description The Senior Quantity Surveyor is a full-time role based in Muscat with a hybrid work arrangement, combining on-site presence with some work-from-home flexibility. The role involves managing project cost control activities, including preparing, reviewing, and updating Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and cost plans for various stages of project development. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will monitor budgets, track expenditures, and prepare periodic cost reports and forecasts, ensuring alignment with contractual and commercial requirements. Daily responsibilities include coordinating with project managers, engineers, and contractors, validating variations and claims, supporting tender evaluations, and contributing to value engineering and risk assessment. The role also requires maintaining accurate project documentation, adhering to company and PDO standards, and providing clear, evidence-based advice on cost-related matters.
Qualifications
- Strong cost management capabilities, including Cost Control and Cost Management to oversee project budgets and financial performance.
- Proficiency in Cost Planning and BOQ preparation to support estimating, tendering, and project execution.
- Experience in Cost Reporting, including regular status reports, forecasts, and variance analyses for stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Several years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, preferably in large-scale energy or infrastructure projects.
- Solid understanding of contract conditions, procurement processes, and claims/variation management.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel and exposure to cost management or ERP systems; experience with industry-standard QS software is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Capacity to operate in a hybrid work environment, managing priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision.
