Role Description The Head Chef is a full-time, on-site role based in Amman, responsible for leading kitchen operations across one or more Fig Tree Ventures concepts. This role includes designing and updating menus, overseeing food preparation and presentation, and ensuring consistent quality and adherence to food safety and hygiene standards. The Head Chef will manage and train kitchen staff, organize shift schedules, and coordinate with front-of-house teams to deliver a smooth and memorable guest experience. Additional responsibilities include cost control, inventory management, supplier coordination, and contributing to new concept development and seasonal culinary innovations. The Head Chef is expected to maintain a positive, inclusive work environment and support continuous improvement in kitchen processes and team performance.
Qualifications
* Strong culinary skills, including advanced cooking techniques, plating, and menu development, ideally within café, casual dining, or contemporary restaurant concepts.
* Experience in kitchen leadership, including team supervision, training, scheduling, and performance management.
* Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and best practices in kitchen operations and quality control.
* Ability to manage inventory, control food costs, and work effectively with suppliers and purchasing processes.
* Proven experience in high-volume or multi-outlet environments, preferably in the food and beverage industry.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and maintain standards during peak service times.
* Effective communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to building an inclusive and respectful team culture.
* Formal culinary education or apprenticeship is preferred; significant practical experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef will also be considered.
* Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by restaurant operations.
* Interest in Jordanian cuisine and regional flavors, and enthusiasm for contributing to innovative local brands with international aspirations.
