Purpose of the Job
The Finance Global Process Owner - Record to Report plays a crucial role in leading and managing the comprehensive record-to-report cycle on a worldwide scale. This position ensures the seamless execution of accounting functions, compliance adherence, and financial governance, while partnering closely with regional and shared service stakeholders to foster consistency and enhance operational excellence across diverse financial landscapes.
Job Description
- * Lead and inspire a cross-regional team managing the global Record to Report (R2R) process, ensuring alignment with corporate finance strategy and delivering consistent high-quality outputs.
- Oversee and continuously enhance the full spectrum of R2R activities including general ledger management, journal processing, fixed asset accounting, intercompany reconciliations, and financial close procedures.
- Develop and implement standardized accounting policies, process frameworks, and control mechanisms to harmonize practices across diverse geographies and ensure strict adherence to regulatory and internal compliance requirements.
- Maintain ownership of global process documentation, RACI matrices, control matrices, and lead transformation programs aiming to optimize operational efficiency, reduce cycle times, and increase process automation.
- Coordinate and govern the global financial close calendar, facilitating seamless month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing cycles with clear escalation and issue resolution pathways for timely and accurate reporting.
- Enhance the global balance sheet reconciliation process, ensuring timely clearance of open items, accurate asset reporting, and effective intercompany accounting controls to mitigate financial risks.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Finance Business Partners, Tax, Treasury, and Internal Audit to address accounting inquiries, regulatory updates, and strengthen control environments.
- Lead initiatives for audit readiness across all R2R functions, managing audit requirements, tracking remediation plans, and ensuring proactive responses to audit findings to support transparency and compliance.
- Provide regular, insightful reporting and analysis on R2R performance metrics, identifying opportunities for value creation and communicating key financial metrics, risks, and improvements to senior leadership.
- Champion continuous improvement and digital transformation projects such as automation tools, standardization efforts, and system integration to heighten process maturity and cost effectiveness.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) include:
- Cycle times for financial close processes across all regions
- Completion rates for balance sheet reconciliations within scheduled deadlines
- Reduction in aged reconciliation items and resolution times
- Accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of statutory and management financial reports
- Frequency and impact of audit findings, control deficiencies, and subsequent remediation effectiveness
- First-time accuracy rates for journal entries and adherence to accounting policies
- Improvements in process automation, reduction in manual interventions, and operational cost savings
- Compliance with global financial close calendars, minimization of missed deadlines, and escalation incidents
- Shared services team SLA adherence and customer satisfaction levels
- Successful implementation and measurable benefits from value-added initiatives contributing to organizational performance
Job Requirements - Experience and Education
- * Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related discipline is required; a Master’s degree will be considered an asset.
- Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, ACCA, or CIMA are a must to demonstrate technical proficiency and commitment to the profession.
- A minimum of 10 to 15 years of progressively responsible experience in finance roles, with substantial exposure to record-to-report processes at a multinational level.
- Proven leadership experience overseeing finance teams, ideally with global or regional scope, managing complex financial processes and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Extensive expertise working with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics, coupled with strong skills in financial reporting and workflow management tools.
- Hands-on experience in leading finance transformation projects, process improvements, and shared services operational enhancements.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within complex multinational environments involving multiple legal entities, shared service centers, regional finance teams, and stringent close/reporting timelines.
