Job Overview
Lead Oman business across commercial, retail pharmacy, tender, regulatory, purchasing and support functions. The General Manager owns the general plan and profit and loss performance, strengthens delivery and compliance, develops the leadership team, and grows the current business by expanding existing accounts and adding suitable principals.
General strategy and growth
• Own the annual Oman business plan, budget, sales forecast and profit and loss performance; set clear targets and review progress with the CEO
• Grow revenue and margin across distribution, institutional tenders, private sales and retail pharmacy. Identify new principals, products and channels with sound commercial cases.
• Build senior relationships with principals and healthcare customers; lead major negotiations and resolve material issues.
Commercial and operational delivery
• Direct sales, tender and market access, retail pharmacy, regulatory affairs and purchasing leaders to deliver agreed plans, bids, launches and customer service.
• Oversee demand planning, stock availability, warehousing and distribution; manage expiry, slow moving stock, working capital and service levels with the finance and operations teams.
• Review pricing, margin, collections and key contracts; act early when results are off plan.
People and governance
• Lead the Oman management team, including commercial and finance, HR, quality and compliance, IT and operational functions. Set priorities, develop successors and hold managers accountable.
• Ensure the business operates within applicable Oman healthcare, pharmacy, employment and financial requirements, with effective controls and timely escalation of risks.
• Drive Omanization, hiring and retention plans in partnership with HR while maintaining the capability needed to grow the business.
• Report monthly to the CEO Oman on financial results, cash, inventory, tenders, people and risks; improve processes as the business scales.

Education and skills
• Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, business or a related field; postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of Oman’s pharmaceutical distribution and retail pharmacy market, including principals, institutional sales and regulatory requirements.
• Able to manage a profit and loss statement, build commercial plans, negotiate with principals and lead a cross functional team.
• Clear communication and sound judgment; fluent English, with Arabic strongly preferred.
At least 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare distribution, including significant leadership experience in Oman and direct responsibility for commercial results. A strong local network with principals, healthcare customers and relevant stakeholders is required. Experience running a comparable Oman business or broad general management portfolio is preferred.
